I'd like to thank VisaJourney and the members for helping me all through out the visa process.

I have been living out of the US for nearly 12 years. I filed for DCF and CRBA last July 30, 2014. CRBA/Passport was approved on August 18.

Now for filing DCF at USEM, I read all the instructions carefully and gathered the requirements before filing I-130. I also followed this link below:

http://www.census.gov.ph.

Now for the i-864 or affidavit of support, there is an example form here:

http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-864.pdf

Filling this out is really easy, you just have to read the instructions carefully. I needed a joint sponsor in my case because I was a student and never had a job after I graduated so I have to submit two (2) I-864. I also needed to submit a letter of explanation why I never filed taxes for the last three years. Sample letters can also be found here, use the search button above.

For my domicile issues, I found this very helpful even if the case or issue applies to the Canadians in the subforum:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/164618-proving-domicile-when-not-living-in-the-us/

I had to write a letter along with these documents:

- copy of my SSN

- various postal mails reflecting that I still have a permanent mailing address in the US

- voter's registration

- wire transfer copy of my US bank account (i had to close my bank account here to show that i'm breaking ties with the Philippines and ready to re establish my domicile in the US)

- copy of my job offer letter (good to have one)

- copy of my child's crba/passport (now this is a must have and a plus! the first visa screener had ask us for these documents)

On the day of the interview which was yesterday. We lined up for about 1 hour outside the USEM and waited for another 1 hour for biometrics. Five minutes later, we were called by the first screener, presented all the documents and paid $325 upstairs. 1 1/2 hour passed til the CO called us and interview took only about 3 minutes. She just asked where will we stay in the US and what does my joint sponsor do for living, checked and matched the 1040 and i-864 of my joint sponsor and finally gave us the VAWA pamphlet. I knew we were approved right there after she handed that pamphlet to my wife. CO said everything looks good and we were told to wait for our numbers to be called again for the final step which is the visa delivery information.

Our appointment was 6:30AM and left the building at 11:00AM with big smiles. Again, BIG THANKS to VJ and members! If you guys have questions regarding DCF/CRBA filing, send me a PM and i'll be glad to answer all your questions. It's my time to give something back to you, in return for all the help that other VJ members have given me.

THANK YOU VisaJourney! I can't wait to fly back home to US with my family.

Yes, you can pay in PhP, at the Embassy Cashier. Ditto when you go for the interview when that comes around. You pay on your interview date.

Say can you start your own thread. This one was started in 2014. Thanks and good luck at your interview.

On the main page of this forum, to the upper right, you will see a blue box and it says "start a new topic". Click on it and you will have started your own thread.
