The good Samaritan who drowned while saving a 6-year-old boy in the Hudson River on Sunday was a devoted dad with a small child himself, family and friends said.

Boyce “Scoop’’ Coleman, 40, managed to pass the stricken little boy to another person — saving the child’s life — before slipping under the water’s surface, witnesses said on Monday.

Coleman had been the first in the crowd at the riverside Yonkers barbecue to jump in after hearing a child was in the water, leaping “over the fence with his clothes, sneakers, shades, everything,” said pal Ronald Colbert, who was at the JFK Marina at the time.

Wow! There is still hope for the human race.

There's always hope. Even in the most unlikeliest of places. (F)
