Hi,

My sister is a US Citizen and she is sponsoring for my mother's green card.We got an RFE on the birth certificate. When my sister was born we didn't register her birth (Back then it was not a common practice and none of the school records in India required to have mother's name any where).

We recently got birth certificate from Official Authorities and send it along with the petition.

The RFE States as the certificate is issued almost 32 years after the actual incident they want additional evidence.

Possible options mentioned in the RFE are

1) Government records dating back to her birth

2) Affidavits by two persons.

3) DNA Test Results.

We are planning to send two affidavits. One from my father. And can i send another one (as i was only couple of years older than her) ??

Also i inquired about AABB Accredited DNA Centers and they are charging close to $400 for the tests.

Has any once sent the DNA Results to USCIS if so could you please post your findings. (Test Center you used and the testing fee. Any suggestions on the testing centers etc).

Thanks

Though all the options are listed in RFE, I wonder how your sister got her green card without birth certificate? What was submitted in lieu of birth certificate at that time?

Hi guys.. My husband applied for i130 for his mother also so we received a letter from uscis also regarding tht they need more proof since his birth was registered 21 yrs later. So we sent these documents last week.

1. 2 affidavits from neighbors in india stating tht they have personal knowledge of my husbands birth. Also stated tht back then it was not necessary to register the birth of a baby. So it got registered late when the indian government actually made it mandatory to have a birth certificate.

2. Copies of my husband's indian passport because on the last page it states the names of both parents. We even sent copies from from the expired passport,

3. We had lyk 3 school certificate where it showed his mothers name so we sent those.

4. His mother also got a paper from Tehsildaar acknowledging the birth of my husband. Because back then in punjab the births were registered to the tehsildaar who would keep records of newborn.

5. His mother sent a copy of her bank copy which was showing also my husband's name.

6. Copies of old and current ration card were also sent which were translated to english showing my husband name and picture of the family.

These are all the documents we sent. They received these on monday last week and i checked the status on friday last week it showed tht they approved the application and it was forwared to nvc. I got the approval letter today.

I hope this helps :)
