Nbi aka names

I know the nbi needs to have the maiden name on it, but have they been asking for an nbi with the "full" name on it for long?

Wife was V C T, then we got married, so now its V T L. We got an nbi with those names, but the embassy wants an nbi with an aka for V C T L. Is this normal?

If not maybe we can save someone a couple weeks with a heads up on a new procedure.

It seemed as though they wanted all the names. Vtl, vct, and vctl.

Like I mentioned, I don't know if this is a new thing or not, but they did not like the vtl with the aka for vct. Beware if its new. Could be a lot of delays coming up if so.

We got it back in April, or may, but picked it up last week cause it was ready the day after we left back to Mindanao.

We just tried to get another one and the same thing is going to happen, its going to be ready after we leave, so were going to the main nbi office tomorrow to get it taken care of.

USEM is asking for NBI to have your birth name or maiden name and married name or any other names that you have used in the past. NBI clearances must NOT be older than 6 months at time of interview. If any of this is not complete, return to NBI and get new documents. If you appear at your interview this is great possibility that you will get a 221(g) which can delay the process up to 30 days. This is not a new requirement as it has been an ongoing request for some time now.

I know they require the maiden name and married name, just the first time I've seen it come up that they want all four names. The nbi we gave them was in the married name, VTL, with the aka listing the maiden name of VCT. They want to have those both, as well as VCTL.

Just seemed strange to me, had not seen anyone say that format required of them.

As for the questions asked, same standard things they ask others. Just her name, bd, how we met, where, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Don't worry, you'll do fine on that part.

With the new nbi format, they just ask for the name, middle name, last name and husband's last name.

Wouldn't that be enough?

I submitted the normal nbi(without akas) and it was accepted. But i think it is c.o specific. My new found friend (cr1 too) got away with an almost expired nbi clearance without akas either. We were interviewed by different c.os.Her friend,k1 was asked for a new nbi with aka because she was annulled. But i suggest doing what other members say,to just get all a.k.as with maiden etc.We just got lucky.Even before my interview,i already expected a 221 g for nbi but didnt get it. :)

The new format seems to be where the confusion lies.

When filling out the paper form the space for last name says father's name, then muddle is mothers maiden name, then there is a spot for husbands family name. When I filled out the online form back in April, the spot for husbands name was not online, its fixed now.

Looking back, and after seeing the paper form, it seems as though it should be filled out as it sounds, in the maiden name, adding the new family name to the end, then in the aka apace, putting the maiden name without the new last name.

Knowing what I know now, I'd say to put them all on there, to cover the bases. ABCD,ACD,and ABC. Plus any others you need to add.

It seems confusing, and as mentioned, it seems to depend on how picky the CO wants to be.

Best wishes to everyone, hope this experience helps someone save some time in their journey.

The correct format is: FIRST NAME, SURNAME Y MIDDLE NAME. The "y" or "nee" refers to the maiden name.

Another correct format could be LAST NAME, FIRST NAME Y MIDDLE NAME

Yep...my wife had her interview on June 9. They kicked back both her CENOMAR and NBI for not having all names used....The embassy received all back from us June 20, and we are still AP.... :-(

This topic has been discussed about every other week. See links at the end of my posting.

Here is where you went wrong: http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3217.html

NBI CLEARANCE (Green Form): Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance (for travel abroad purposes) from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, or "No pending case”. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued. You may contact NBI at (632) 523-82-31 to 38. The NBI website is http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

There are more but I think you understand. If you ever have any questions do a search using the search box on the top right hand side where it has a box and the word "search".
