• Joint lease (landlord amended original lease of 2011 pre-marriage)

• Joint car title
• Cable bill in OXXXXXX’s name with shared address
• Electric bill in GXXXXX’s name with shared address
• GXXXXX’s driver’s license with shared address
• OXXXXX’s driver’s license with shared address
• Joint health insurance card
• Joint zoo membership
• Two joint checking account debit cards
• Joint Discover cards
• Joint Visa cards
• Joint Target cards

Blue folder:

• Three affidavits by U.S. citizen friends, attesting to our relationship and marriage.
• Honeymoon hotel receipt – New York
• Honeymoon activity reservation receipt – New York
• Family get-away weekend hotel receipt– Washington, DC
• GXXXXX’s visit to OXXXXXX’s parents flight itinerary
• GXXXXX’s and OXXXXX’s parents’ flight itinerary to fly together to USA

Orange folder:

• 2012 tax transcript, married filing jointly
• 2013 tax transcript, married filing jointly

Black folder:

• Quarterly statements for 2012, 2013 and 2014 for joint checking account #1
• Quarterly statements for 2013 and 2014 for joint checking account #2

Purple folder:

• Photos taken throughout the course of our marriage; date, people, location noted on back

Your colorful folders will annoy and confuse examiner, they are not children so you don't have to colorize/ highlight everything. Just stack everything up in order of your head-letter. You will be fine. Good luck.

I wouldn't use the folders. They are likely to throw that out anyway. I would just paperclip each section.

I think people are being overly picky.

I think USCIS will be quite happy to get something this well organized.

Can't speak to what will actually happen, but if I were the examiner, I'd be leafing through each folder to spot-check it and say Yep found this, Yep found that, and I'd be done and approved.

I do think your folder is very nice, but it's also known that the USCIS officers have a set organization method and agree that it would probably be better to leave the folders out.

I did it to allow them to find things easily. I knew what was in there and even I had a hard time locating what I wanted when they were in one big stack. Even with just quarterly bank statements, they were big, irritating stack. They were much more manageable once separated. I was not suggesting that everyone do their package this way. I just know that I had personally searched for organizational methods and thought maybe someone else would benefit. I don't care how they decide to ultimately organize it once they find what they want and I don't care if the folder goes in the trash or not. It should make it easy for them to locate what they want to see and make their job less tedious.

No, the affidavits were not notarized. Each US citizen did provide their contact information on the letter, however. We had affidavits for our AOS package, also, and they were not notarized, either.

Yes, some people were a little rude in their phrasing.

However, I have to stand by what I said earlier for anyone else reading this topic searching for package organization methods. Someone helpfully posted the official USCIS guidelines in another thread earlier today, and their #1 bullet point says "Do not use binders or folders that cannot be easily disassembled."

They suggest using ACCO fasteners for holding together submissions.

Sounds to me from that image the OP put up what she used that although that one is a folder, it can be super easily disassemble...you just literally pull out from the section what you need. I feel, hers does not qualify for your quote above...USCIS just wants to avoid people bundling it in such ways that they would have to use tooth and nails to remove tape from the envelope/staples from the papers etc. They simply want to have a package that is easy to take apart, yet easy to navigate through as well. Hers fall into that category by all means. Imho. Not picking a fight here...just sayin'.

I see what you're saying, and I agree that her folders didn't look hard to disassemble. However, personally, I still wouldn't do it. Everyone can organize however they want of course, but since USCIS specifically states they want ACCO fasteners then that is what I would use if I were sending in another package.
