Such a dignified stance.

He's learning things really quickly. We take him to puppy training class on Monday nights and he loves it. Nothing like a room full of 8 or 9 puppies runnin all over each other.

I just over heard a conversation at another table discussing what this woman thought was the difference between being uppity and stuck up. I should have let her know she was being racist.

Was this in canada or kaintuckee?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I have determined at which age one acquires "get-off-mah-lawn"-ishness. It is exactly the age which I have attained.

I'm an early bloomer. I achieved that status in my twenties.

Looks like a great bookstore.

I've itineraried (cool new verb) many garage/estate sales at which to treasure-hunt tomorrow.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Because everyone is probably edge-seated (cool new back-formation of "on the edge of their seats") in regard to the hunt-treasuring referred to above, here was the "take" today.

First, the necessary abbreviations, see man:

GS = garage sale

ES = estate sale

Prefixes:

I = itineraried in advance, by virtue of newspaper or Craigslist advertisement

S = signage (sign seen while driving; detour taken)

D = drive-by (serendipitously happened upon)

$10.00 = Redhead-brand lodge moccasins, new in package; pair of scissors (IES)

1.00 = 4 matching tablespoons, serving-spoon (IGS)

1.08 = 4 warshcloths (= the Texas, and correct, spelling) (IES that charged sales tax)

1.00 = 3 books for Mini-Bone (SGS)

.50 = 1 book for Mini-B. (IGS)

.25 = 170-sheet scratchpad in several neon colors (IGS)

5.00 = Swingline lever-operated 3-hole puncher*, 8-pack of gel pens (DGS)

4.00 = silk tie (way overpriced, but badly needed a solid-green one) (IGS)

.75 = 8 LitterMaid bins/lids for the, uh, end use of Mofle the Cat (SES)

1.00 = fluffy bath-towel (DGS)

-------

$24.58 = Total, not bad man

=====

*requested and greatly desired by a very pleased Mrs. T-B., she man

Walked away from a couple of other potential purchases -- a wall-clock and a designer shirt for Mini-B. -- because the sellers wouldn't budge far enough on price, no man.

On principle, extricated self from a semi-promising DGS when the lady wouldn't shut up and let me look.

In my unscientific oral survey of the GS-ers, most readily agreed that hosting GSs was a huge amount of work and that they themselves were masochists, sigh man. A couple of them said that they enjoyed the interaction and seeing what people liked, glee man.

Mrs. T-B. & I ran our first (and only, so far) GS a couple of years ago and learned some things, chief among which are these principles:

1. Do not run a GS during the competition of a "community" GS event, the high traffic aside.

2. The idea is to get rid of stuff, not to get rich; therefore, don't overprice. The money will add up regardless.

An ongoing mystery to me is why nearly all tools offered for sale at GSs, and certainly at ESs, are so thoroughly rusty, good grief man.

Unless anyone has questions or comments, this constitutes our statement and we stand by it, si man.

Just stopping by to say Happy Monday friends, and...

If everything goes according to the doc we should have a baby boy on Thanksgiving day. Doctor picked the day for a C-section since I'm American and American's believe in Thanksgiving, his words, not mine.

I'm just hoping he's as cute as Dex!

Congrats to you and your wife Operator, I hope all goes well! You picked a great day to have him as the 26th of November is my b-day as well.

Dex is a good lookin boy and the women love him, your son will be all set with blonde hair, brown eyes, 4 paws and a tail!
