OK so we're on the process of AOS based on marriage to a US citizen. We had our biometrics taken on 4/23/2014 and I think a few days later our i485 status changed from "Acceptance" to "Testing & Interview", not sure exactly when because we didn't get any e-mail or text notification. We also happened to move our address on 5/1/2014 and we changed our address on 5/3/2014, which is when I discovered that our status had change. It is now 5/8/2014 and no word yet on an interview date, and I'm getting a little worried that maybe the mail got lost because it happens too frequently where we used to live.... I've been looking at all the time lines that people posted for AOS based on marriage to a USC, and everyone seems to receive the interview appointment notice no more than a week after the i485 status changes to "Testing & Interview". Will we know when an interview was scheduled? This is what it shows on the website right now:

Your I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS is now ready for interview scheduling. When scheduling is complete, you will receive a notice with a time and place for your interview. If you have not received the notice within 30 days of the date the notice is mailed, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

If your case status indicates that you are currently in this step, you have either been scheduled for an interview or are in line to be scheduled for an interview. The amount of time your application will remain in this step will vary by office and is largely determined by the number of cases ahead of yours. The interview notice will have specifics about time, location and anything you will need to bring to your interview. If your application remains pending beyond our normal processing times (as shown below) please contact our national customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Please note that not every application/applicant will require an interview. In some instances, an interview is required by regulation and others an interview is requested because USCIS has determined that this is the most efficient means to determine eligibility. For a naturalization application the interview will include your taking the required English and/or Civics tests (unless exempt or waived).

Will the text here change once we've been scheduled for an interview? Or do we just have to wait for the mail to supposedly arrive? Is there any way that we can check the details on this stage? What will happen if we miss the interview because we never received the letter informing us the appointment?

There's no real idea of when you'll be scheduled. Some lucky folks get their dates a week or less after entering T and I, while others end up waiting weeks or even months. It depends on how busy your local field office is. It's hard to be patient and not stress (I'm very guilty of over stressing!) but I think all you can do is keep an eye on your online status and if you're worried call and speak to a Tier 2.

I am so jealous of those who got their appointment notice so early! I'm the same, I get easily stressed over these things. I guess all I can do now is wait... Thank you for the quick reply

Yes, once the interview is schedule it will show you on the website. It will say on x date we mailed you a notice for an interview that has been set for x date. It doesn't show the time or place though.
