My happiness is kind of confused because it's the 27th. and no email with no further information such as scheduling medical and or interview has arrived...

The super awesome lady on the phone said she has no clue when the email will arrive and told me I can do nothing but sit and wait....

Any clue how long normally an email takes to arrive?

It's like I wanna scream so loud but then it doesn't feel like it's complete sigh* I weird probably but this means no more checklists and such right?

Seems like Pakistan is not a MENA country but it definitely is a high fraud country just like India and Bangladesh. I would suggest to make sure to have documents if they ask for them and also, know what to say and explain any questionable differences.

You can ask for an earlier appointment? What are you supposed to tell them?

Yes, you can always request an earlier date. Wait until the embassy/consulate receives your case from NVC (typically within a week from an interview date being assigned), then just contact them (either through phone or email) and simply request an earlier date. Make sure you include all the relevant information (full names, dates of birth, case number, original interview date, etc). And, if you have a reason for wanting an earlier date (besides just wanting an earlier date ), then state that as well.

There's of course no guarantee you'll be granted your request, but it's worth a shot.

does anyone know when I should expect the IV invoice? I see a lot of people get AOS and IV invoice at or around the same time. I paid AOS last week but still have not get IV invoice yet.

but seriously July??? So no chance of an interview date in June that's rather annoying to say the very least its still like a two month wait if that's the case. Should be happy the hardest part is said and done though I can imagine...Is there a link in the email or something that lets you know how to schedule medical and stuff?

Please be happy for a July interview, please, some of us will be waiting 6 to 8 months to get an interview. Again congratulations.

Makes alot of sense thank's alot. It seriously does suck the happiness outta you though to think now it's all just another waitfest but at least there isn't really a ton of paperwork involved this time and checklist this and that so yay I shall remain at this level of happiness forever more.

Just curious Saylin when you went for the Montreal interview which I will be going to as well did they allow petitioner and beneficiary to be together during interview process or was petitioner told to wait outside or something?

Yup, petitioners are allowed inside the consulate as well as into the same interview room as the beneficiary. I saw a fellow VJ petitioner/beneficiary do this when I was there

But, for Montreal, it's definitely not needed for the petitioner to be there. Montreal is one of the easiest places to go through. Unless you have some red flags or if the petitioner is living in Canada and needs to prove domicile, then don't bother wasting money on a flight to Montreal for the petitioner.

And her nervousness is really really bad

Because this whole thing started when she went to Canada from New York for the weekend to just pick up her Winter clothes (Before we realized that there was even going to be an immigration issue ahhh young naive love)

They stopped her and said you can't just come and go as you please your married to a US Citizen and fingerprinted her and like took a picture and it really freaked her out you know. She felt like a criminal. It was so unexpected. So ever since she has quite the fear of this whole process and wanting it to go as smooth as possible.

You should be ecstatic! However, I know how you feel. Until I have an interview date, I will not feel like this journey is more than halfway over. That date will tell me when I can begin living a normal life with my husband. We will be true newlyweds during our second year of marriage. I promise to eat him up with smooches everyday, but I also promise to annoy him

Great news -- the NVC is no longer requseting the Greek PCC that I got a checklist for. Apparently the supervisor was able to pull my file and list it as "unavailable."

Oh God, my heart rose up into my throat when I read this. I was thinking of starting my own topic, but maybe more people will see this here. My husband is Colombian and for the IV package, according to the reciprocity page, we need his libreta militar (military records). All Colombian men at age 18 are supposed to present themselves for military service and either receive the libreta militar first class (served) or second class (obtained an exception and did not serve). Well, my husband doesn't have this because he didn't present. The whole military service thing is a corrupt money making scheme and everyone knows it, so this isn't uncommon, and it's never been a problem for him until now. And now that he's married, he's not required to serve, so he's legally off the hook in Colombia. To give you an idea of how corrupt the military there is: They issue fake documents as well as real ones, for a lesser fee. Yes, they make the fake ones and real ones in the exact same place. Wrap your head around that one.

We have been investigating what it would take for him to get this document. His parents went to the battalion in his hometown to ask what we needed to do, and basically he'd have to fly to his hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia and wait until they announce a random day where all the guys who don't have this paper can come and get it. He would also have to pay thousands of dollars, money which will go to go straight to the shopping budget of some corrupt general's mistress. In total, with the flight, we're looking at around U.S. $6000 (yes, SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS) for this one stupid piece of paper. Not to mention the months he might have to wait there, not working, us blowing through our savings while we wait and hope they will announce a random day for all the guys to come get this stupid piece of paper (they don't announce these days in advance).

Is it possible that if I call and explain the situation to NVC, they might pull our file and list the libreta militar as unavailable, like they did for agbcha and the Greek police certificate? My husband is a contractor and therefore doesn't get vacation time; he will lose his job if he has to fly from Argentina to Colombia to do this, and then there are the months it will add to our wait time. Please help. Is this the type of thing people write to their congressman about?? We don't know what to do.

So I am a little ahead of the game and this is a medical question, but maybe someone has an answer. On the NVC site it says to look up the medical locations and info using your Interview location initials (ours is PRS- Paris). However, my husband lives in Portugal and his interview is only in Paris because the American consulate no longer conducts interviews there. But his medical exam for sure is not in Paris. How do I find out where his medical exam can be done in Portugal?

I thought one only needs to present military or prison records if they actually served in the military or served time in prison. It is the police records that are required from all.

My case number was assigned also on may 23rd, but wasn't given iin. I called nvc and got disconnected after 23mins. Am just so annoyed!!! Am on hold again.
