Hello everyone! I just got naturalized from joining the US Navy with an E-3 rank.

It was so fast! The military expedited my citizenship in only 2 months.

Now, I have been in a long-distance relationship with my boyfriend who is in the Philippines for more than 2 years. I just finished boot camp and I'm set to go to "A" school. I just want to know if when will I be able to petition my boyfriend?

Also, if he comes here, can I get him where I'll be stationed?

Have you seen him in person in the last 2 years? Then you can petition him right now. If you have not been physically together in the last two years, you need to visit first before petitioning.

The visa will not specify where he has to live so yes, he can fly into wherever you will be stationed at the time.

I can't tell you if you are qualified down the line for everything you have to show, but as far as citizenship goes,, however you got it, you are a full citizen for K-1 as well as any other purpose.

Agreed with the rest that you can file an I-129f for your fiance now, provided that you both are free to marry and have seen each other for the last 2 years prior to submission of your petition.

More details here for filing an I-129f: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Hello everyone ! I saw this part regarding Military-Related threads. And I fervently hope you can all advise me about my situation.

I'm going to Chicago next month for my training at the boot camp with an E-3 rank. During the 2-month training, my US Citizenship will be expedited, which I'm really looking forward to. As of now, I'm only a green card holder. After the training in July, I will move to Pensacola, Florida to start as PACT Airman.

Honestly speaking, one of my real reasons of joining the military is to get my fiance in the Philippines here in the US. I heard that FIANCE VISA is most probably the fastest to get him here. So of course, naturally, I will do the fastest way to be able to petition him.

So here are my questions:

When should I submit a petition for Fiance Visa?

And can I take him with me on my first command or station?

Thank you all so much for your answers.

HOO RAH !! :)

File as soon as you get your citizenship.

He will most likely live with you in Pensacola.

Hello there, Dear KrispyKreme! Thank you so much for your reply. I really plan to get him already after the boot camp. Oh, and I wonder if I could see you in Pensacola hehehe

By the way, do I have to ask for a permission from someone about my plan of getting my fiance or getting married?

Sure! It'd b nice to finally have some filipino friends here :)

Uhm im not sure how it is in the Navy (right?), but with the Marines, my husband had to just talk and get a verbal approval from his chain of command about marrying me.

Only a USC can petition a foreign fiance for a K-1.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!
