To report present and previous jobs ?

I have been out of status for 7 years and getting ready to send forms for AOS after I got married 5 months ago. I have been working independently all these years and my current job is a contractor for the City and I had paid taxes every year. Now that I am married my husband and I filed taxes together including my income of course. I ask to an immigration Attorney online from justanswer.com and he advised me to leave the spaces blank and not volunteer any information saying that they won't deny me for leaving them blank of for working when I am not allowed yet I have not being employed by anyone but work independently - but paying taxes-.

My husband wasn't too sure about doing this and asked me to keep inquiring about it. What are your toughts?

Definitely DO tell the truth and put your jobs on the form. Your illegal work will be forgiven based on your marriage, and you have paid taxes on it as well, so it looks good.

Moreover, if you put your jobs, they will know you are not a drug dealer or something and will understand how you supported yourself all those years.

If you ever claimed to be a USC to get those jobs, or stole a SSN, then that is another matter.

Why do some lawyers give such inept and flat out bad advice!

Do list your self-employment and it's even better that you actually were declaring the income! Being honest is the only way to go.

Thank you for your replies. I've never claimed to be USC and never used anyone else's SSN, I have my own which is valid as well as a DL. In my SSC there is a annotation saying that I am not allowed to work without INS authorization.

Years ago applied for a work permit while I had the F1 visa due economical hardship, the counserlo at school helped me with the process. I had just gotten divorced and I not longer had a sponsor which was my ex husband. It was a very difficult time emotionally and financially. I was denied and I have the letter from INS ( INS back then)

In one of the forms to apply for the green card I am asked if had applied for work permit in the past, so I should answer YES in this part and send a copy of the dennial letter I received?

When you do fingerprinting, it shows everything. So tell the truth.

I had to do fingerprinting all the time for my school and state Board exam for nursing. And it showed every legit single details about me.

I know!!! when I told my husband about it he nodded his head and he told me to keep asking questions because none of that made sense. So I asked another attorney in the website and guess what??? he advised differently on each question than the first I asked! more accondingly what other memember here have been advising

I have a similar situation. But I have an employer. I didn't claim to be a citizen and when I filed the papers for my job I put the date my opt would end. They never payed attention to that and kept giving me shifts.

Now I wonder... Are they going to be fined? My lawyer says chances are USCIS won't even care for it. But, as I would like to keep my job, I would prefer they don't get fined...
