Does anyone want to share the interview experience ?

I see from your time line that we both had our interviews today. Hope it went well!

We left 3 hours early although it's only a 40 minute drive... thank god; traffic was so bad that we arrived 10 minutes before our appointment was scheduled.

After checking in, we waited for about 30 minutes until they called us both in. The officer was very friendly.

She asked both of us the following questions:

1) What's your spouse's name, birthday, and date of birth?

2) Where does your spouse work and what do they do - what jobs did they have in the last 5 years?

3) Where do you live? Where did your spouse live before you moved in together?

4) Did you meet each other's parents?

5) Where do your spouse's parents live?

6) How did you meet?

7) What's the name of the band you both like (we met because of that band)

8) What do you do for fun together?

9) What's their favorite food? (We said we like to go out to eat a lot)

10) What books do they read? (Also said we are homebodies.. I love reading)

11) Where did you go to school?

Then the yes/no questions from the i-485. Lastly, she asked us we have any other evidence we'd like to show her.

We gave her our rental agreement with both of our names, joint car insurance, joint health insurance, old DL that shows the same address of the state we lived in last year, joint tax return, 10 family pictures, joint checking and savings account statement, and joint credit card account.

She didn't really look at the bona fide evidence but kept all of it for our file.

Lastly, she made a copy of my EAD, driver's license and passport. She took my i-94 but returned my EAD.

I wasn't approved today but she's holding it for review and were told that if we don't hear anything within 120 days, we should make an info pass appointment.

Overall, I think it went well.

My interview was yesterday (july 31) in VA.

We got there 10:50am and they finally called us 12:00 pm ( it was schedule for 11:20am) .

I didn't like the guys that interview us :(

The told us to no kick under table or cough ( when each of us answer the question )

I can't remember all the questions, but was a little tricker ..... They really try to get you in a lie.

What is your address

When is his bday ? ( asked my husband too)

What is husband dad and mother's names ? ( same to my husband)

Did u meet then? ( same to my husband)

Did your husbands mother and father live together ? .... And where do they live

Where did my husband lives before we live together?

How pays the bill ?

Where does your husband works?

What he's positions at work ?

Where does she works ? ( to my husband )

Tell me one of her boss ? ( to y husband )

Do u speak Portuguese ? ( to my husband )

How is you Portuguese ? (He asked me that ?! )

What is your eletric company ?

What is gas company ?

Witch kind of visa your wife came to usa ?

Them he check the bank statement and asked who buys iTunes must ? I said my husband and he asked witch kind of music ?

He asked also that where we eat when we go out?

Why so many transitions in Rockville ? ( cause I work in Rockville )

Then he told us that he will check the my files and if he need more information they will send me a letter ! :(

We talked out the room and he keeping ask my husband if I had any tattoos ?

He said yes 4 and told him where and it it was (

By the way ... I have one you can see behind my ear , and one on my left fist that wast cover and he could see ! Stupid question! )

And was it!

I didn't like him ! Or he was just doing he's job ...

Now just wait again

My interview was yesterday (july 31) in VA.

In VA? So you live in Virginia but work in Maryland? I'm only asking because it says your local office is Baltimore, MD on your profile.

It sounds like your interview went fine although I know the waiting is horrible. From what I read, people often get a letter that says their case is held for review. I got nothing of the sort - did you? How about you, Mrs. Parker?

The questions we were asked weren't as coherent as I had expected.. but here's my interview experience.

Our IO first asked me to show her my ID, if I had any for state, with current address. I attempted to giver her my newly issued EAD/AP card, but she refused to have it telling me she did not need it because it was issued by USCIS. During the entire interview, our IO did not seemed interested receiving anything that had been already submitted, or issued by USCIS. Since I did not own any state issued ID, I just gave her my passport. My USC spouse gave her his driver's lisence.

The IO first asked my USC spouse a couple questions going over I-130. Some of them were actualy questions, while some of them were basically the confirmation of what was written in the form as IO read through.

1) Name of yourself (USC)

2) Date/Place of Birth

3) Current Address

4) Name of spouse (beneficiary, me)

5) Date/Place of Birth of spouse

6) Date of marriage

7) Where the parents live, etc etc

Our IO then went over the color copies of our pictures from the file, giving some friendly comments. She then asked us if there were anything more that we wanted to show her, so I handed her new leasing document, updated auto insurance policy, and couple of bank statements which were all issued in last two months. (We also took our big heavy wedding album to interview but ended up not showing it... It didn't seem too necessary at that point).

Then the IO turned to me to go over my I-485. She confirmed my name, address, DOB, country of birth and then took my old I-94 from my passport asking if it was the one put on 485 form. Since the paper I-94 was the one from previous entry not the last arrival, I also gave my IO another copy (I had already submitted with package, of course) of electronic I-94. Our IO also asked if I was affiliated to any other organization other than what I wrote down on the firm, so I answered to that question. Then she finally went over the long list of "Have you EVER" question from I-485.

After all these, IO spent a couple of minutes with her computer, telling me "Let me see if the system can approve you here".... and then once again confirmed the spelling of my name, DOB, and maybe the country of birth.

I got approved afterwards and that was it. Overall it was a very easygoing interview for me, which was a big relief. I asked my IO if I could get a stamp or anything as a proof of approval but said not, unless I was traveling abroad in next couple of weeks or so. Instead, she told us when to expect the approval letter and the physical GC and she also let me keep my EAD as a souvenir telling me NEVER to use it, for it is not valid anymore.

You're adjusting from a K-1 visa? In that case, you're in the wrong sub-forum. Check out "AOS from family-based visas" instead. It seems to be fairly common for K-1 adjusters to receive the interview waiver letter. Pro: no interview. Con: it might take up to 6 months, but could be less.

I just got an email that my card is in production! Exactly 4 weeks after my interview.

I actually contacted my congress person (Van Hollen) to check the status of my case on 2 days ago. They had an amazingly quick turn around with both my EAD and now the green card. I'm so happy!
