Want to apply Green Card for mom, she has just came to visit me in USA on visitor visa

I am a U.S. citizen, and my mother has just came to visit me in the U.S. on a visitors visa. Does she have to go back to her country if I want to apply green card for her and which forms I should submit?

In short, yes she will need go to back to her country first. You will need to submit an I-130 Petition for Alien Relative. The process can take up to 12 months so be prepared for a wait.

She can adjust her status while in the US. It's perfectly legal. You have to file I-130 and I-485 for her concurrently or separately, it doesn't matter.

Better file these two together, yes, if financially possible. There will be less overstay involved. Although parents of USCs are normally forgiven overstay.
