So I had my interview for naturalization on Thursday. I just wanted to share my experience and have a few questions. My appointment was at 2pm. I arrived with my wife around 1:30 and checked in. I was called in around 1:55, she immediately asked if that was my wife and that she would like to see her license. She was pretty friendly, way better than the officer I had for my I-751 interview. We then proceeded to her office where she swore me in and began the interview. She asked what other documents I brought with me. I gave her everything I had, and asked if i brought my wifes tax returns and of course I didnt have that. Then she began going over my application and making sure everything matched to my answers. After that she drops the bomb on me... She told me that she could not locate my I-751 file because it is in the process of being put into the computer data base. And that she wont be able to approve me for the oath till she sees that file. I actually asked if she was kidding.LOL. I just couldnt believe after all this time and waiting for this day I couldnt get approved because they lost my file. She then continued by saying it was out of her hands and she would still test me today and check periodically for my file. I asked her how long it usually takes and she said MONTHS!!! really?!?!?!?! Immigration sure knows how to take the happiness out of someone.

She then started the test... Got the first six questions right. Then I had to write "The President lives in the white house" and read one sentence, but I forgot what it was. (very easy). She congratulated me and told me I passed and that she can not approve me till she see's my other file. I think i was in shock because I didnt even ask her more questions, which now I'm pretty upset about that I didnt.

Now, has this happened to anyone else or even heard of something like this??? I was so exited for that day and it I couldnt even enjoy the rest of my day with my wife.

What can I do? What if my file just sits on her desk because she forget about it?

I really thought this was the month I become a citizen. The job I want requires it and they are currently taking applications. So I am very disappointed now.

USCIC has 120 days to make a decision on any n-400 application after that you can Bring that matter to court ,

1. you can contact Your local Congress man

2. Contact Senator

3. Then after you not going to get any results( Happened with my application )

4.Then you can contact CIS Ombudsman office for assistance

if no results after that you file Complaint in your local District court under section 8 U.S.C 1447 (b)

my application was stolen for 120 days execly and i prepared a lawsuit then on march 7 they approved my application and im current in a q fro Oath ceremony

I am so sorry that this happened, to you,i think the fact that she recommended you for the approval means, you passed the interview and you will soon become a citizen,it's just the matter of the paperwork,to speed it up,i agree with the previous post-you have to contact the senator,

it will help a lot.

ps- i feel your pain,i passed the interview, but due to the name change, couldn't have oath at the same day....so have to wait,it's been over a month after the interview, and nothing is clear about when it's going to happen.and i applied in august(B-more office)...i guess in our area it takes for about 9 months :sleepy:

OMG horror! I hope everything is found speedily!

Do I understand this correctly that your spouse can come with you even if they don't have any "business" in there? I always thought they only let the applicant in the building.

Alles wird gut und wenn es noch nicht gut ist, ist es noch nicht vorbei.

Nothing yet. I did contact my US representative and they said they will look into it. My at the airport for a little vacation in Germany. Hopefully I'll know something when I get back.

Yes you can bring your wife. The officer even made a copy of her lisence. And my mother, mother in law, and wife came to my I-751 interview.
