I'm from India, my wife's from the US. I'm a student here, have been for 4 years. We got married in Oct '06 after being together for 3 years. It's great to find this website and the amazing people here...and such wealth of information! Thank you so much for your efforts (F) !

Guess I didn't really explain our situation  Timi and I met at a social at Ohio University, where I'm finishing up my Masters. She is the director of a youth development program.

My legal stay here as a student is till June '07. We're just starting the paperwork, and it was really overwhelming till we found this site. However, I'm still unsure as to whether we should file an I-129f or no, since I'm already here in the US, but I only have a short time to stay legally as a student. Does anyone have any advice? Also, at what point will I be able to file for employment authorization?

Thanks again for looking and commenting!

I believe you can just marry and adjust status while in the U.S. You did not enter the U.S. with the intent of marrying and staying forever, so I think as long as your marriage was a spontaneous thing, you are okay.

But someone else will correct me if I am wrong.

Welcome to VJ and good luck with the process.
