I-693 medicals are actually valid for as long as it takes for USCIS to adjudicate the petition (even if over a year), provided no serious medical conditions were discovered.

Dnt think thats correct hypno. I recently had my interview and didnt bring an updated medical. As such my case was put on hold pending receipt of medical. Prior medical was 1yr and 6mths old. My advise to anyone going to interview would be to get medical updated to prevent delay

Bring original to all the documents you sent with ur I-485 application including birth certificates, marriage LICENCES, divorce decree etc. If your medical was submitted more than a yr ago, you will need to get a new one done(even if it was not requested. Once it's a year old the io will ask for a new one). You want to ensure that your passport isn't expired. You also need your I-94. You will be sworn in and asked to confirm your name, address, dob etc and then asked the yes and no questions from the i485. They shd not ask abt the abuse.

thank you , i just hope i have no problems,... ive been arrested but no felony .. the arrest was connected with the abuse in a way.. i told them that... and with the arrest i was still able to get vawa approval so i dont know if i have to bring all the documents from the good moral character i submitted along with VAWA.

thats the part that scares me :(

That part i am not sure about. Maybe someone else can give an insight as to how to deal with matters of arrest as it pertains to aos interview. Good luck..

Congratulations! When was your VAWA approved? I want to see what is the stats. I have been waiting for little less than 8 months already=(

About medical, so do you guys recommend to do another medical if the old one was over a year ago, will renewing it before the interview help?

The adjudicator's field manual (http://www.uscis.gov/policymanual) states this about I-693 validity:

I-693-validity.PNG

So it must be (i) submitted to USCIS within a year of it being completed, and then (ii) the application it was submitted in support of must be adjudicated within a year.

For example, if you had the I-693 medical performed on 1st January 2012 then you could submit it to USCIS up to 1st January 2013. Let's suppose you submitted it on 1st November 2012, provided USCIS adjudicate the I-485 on or before 1st November 2013 then the medical will remain valid, even with it being one year beyond the date the medical was performed on. If USCIS did not adjudicate the I-485 by 1st November 2013 then a new medical would be required.

Good evening everyone.

I don't understand what is that mean case transferred to NBC can someone explain? My VAWA was approved last Monday tomorrow morning I'm sending out my I485 package to Chicago. As far as I understand it will then go to NYC local office since I live here. Is that correct?
