Called the DOS this morning (as I have been once per week since our interview) and was advised that as of yesterday, they are NO LONGER TAKING CALLS CONCERNING K-1 FIANCE VISAS. Although they are technically a non-immigrant visa, the National Visa Center (NVC) is now responsible for addressing these inquiries. They would not even look into our case today. I advised that I called last week and was told to call once per week. They said yes, that was correct but it changed as of Monday January 27, 2014. <<insert sad face here>> crying.gif SooOoooOoo frustrated! They were the BEST at helping find out what was happening with our case.

Last week I was able to find out what the status was, when things were being worked on, etc. Today? NVC states they have no information on our case after it leaves the NVC. I have to call the embassy.... who knows nothing. Beyond frustrated now.

**side note: Yes, I did call back and spoke with a different rep just to make sure the first one was not mistaken.

IMO, this is a massive sucky thing for DoS to do.

posts 1 and 7 were always pertinent,

up at http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/264972-shortcuts-when-checking-for-updates-from-the-nvc-and-dos/

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hey hun, have you tried CEAC, they are also good at giving info, www.ceac.com. Good luck!!!

Unfortunately, CEAC is the DOS and they no longer answer anything via 202-485-7600 ;-( The website as we all know is limited as well at best. Bah-Humbug! ;-)

TOTALLY SUCKYYYY!!!! Ugh... even more so as the Haiti Consulate directs all calls for inquiry to CIVA (contracted Haitian company) who have never been able to answer any of my questions since our case arrived to them. No clue what to do now aside from email them daily.

***************************

UPDATE:

I finally called the DOS back and was talking to an extremely nice agent who did check our case for me today after I explained I have no one else to call any more. He did tell me though that they are losing access to this database in the next day or two at the most so even though he helped me today, it was more than likely the last time he would be able to gain access to my case file.

Did you call the NVC to see if they would give you the status?

Yes, the only thing they said was that they have no information and are unable to provide any after they forwarded our case to the embassy. Running around in circles at the moment with what the heck to do now. Total bummer.

I wonder if this is the case for CR1s too or just K1s. I called them every day after hubby was approved.

I think (this is only my opinion since I'm not 100% sure) that CR-1s will remain unaffected. K-1s kind of "pass through" NVC and are then distributed to the beneficiaries' consulates. CR-1s are processed at NVC (which is part of DOS) so DOS will keep info about us until our case goes to our consulates.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

That's awful. DoS was the only way to know if you've been issued an interview date if you haven't received the notice.

November 14th, 2013: She's here!

December 12th, 2013: Picked up marriage license.

December 14th, 2013: Wedding

They will not provide info on CR1/IR1 cases either. I tried calling to get my NVC case number and she told me no also.
