Yes, a friend of mine whose husband is from Egypt moved with their daughter to be with him after he was put in AP at the time of his interview. Her husband was put in AP in November of 2012 and his AP just ended this month and they are coming back to the US together as a family. She used her mom's residence for her domicile.

Where you live has no bearing on the processing. It will continue as usual. Just at I-864 time you will have to re-establish and show domicile depending how long you plan to take.

I would strongly suggest having a US address for the contact mail just in case. NVC is all email. But you need a place for NOA2 to be sent.
