Yeah well, people call me white when my skin is actually more peach. Who cares? Its just a descriptor for some. Words are wind, what matter is the meaning behind the words. Two people can call you black and have entirely different reasons for doing so.

I don't care, I just believe that people point out colors as a derogatory way of trying to hold black people back. I am lighter than most Indians, Sri Lankans, Bangladeshi, and many other Asians. I want to hear you call some of these people black. But you will not would you, because they don't have black ancestry and it is meaningless to try to remind them of their slave heritage because they have none.

And I love peaches.

I'm Black and I'm an American. I am proud of all my ancestry which also includes Native American Cherokee and Irish. I am proud of my African ancestry, my origins and roots. I am proud of those who came before me and built this great nation off of blood sweat tears and not given the distinction of being recognized as a human being but property.

America is not some white washed blank facade, colorless vacuum. America is a great nation because we are diverse. Our differences whether they be racial, cultural, religious is what unites us and sometimes divides us. We should all celebrate our heritages and embrace them because that is America. We are United not by our differences but by the foundational values of democracy and freedom. The fact that we come together to achieve those goals in a non heterogeneous society is very unique in world history.

I'm really shocked to see some of the posts here especially on these forums which brings people together to extend the diversity of America.

With that said the Op is a troll.

He is always out strolling for a troll. Hehehehe

I suppose I wouldn't call them black. You're right, usually black is reserved for people of African descent. Its mostly just a descriptor based on local norms. I can't say I personally use for anything more than that. Its all in the spirit of how something is said.

Wow, if only you had some Chinese in there, you'd pretty much be the culmination of American's most mistreated races all mixed together.

You sure you're not exaggerating?

I'll take that as a compliment, especially coming from someone from Kentucky. :-)

Okay, we've got 4 members in here that are black. One more and they might call the cops on us...

Fortunately people who think likewise are the vast majority of our nation, which helps us keep these nutjobs at bay, and call their BS whenever and wherever their ignorance and bigotry raise their ugly heads!

Agreed!

I'm not talking about census forms, but you make a good point. Have never filled out one of those in my life (that I can recall). I'm talking the myriad of forms in the gov't world that I have to fill out annually. Might not apply so much to everyone, I guess. If I WERE to do a census form, I would fill it out appropraitely. But the vast majority of forms I see it on, it shouldn't even be a question.

Good post. welcome aboard

but we have an issue. We are only allowed two blacks in this sub forum, plus one standby white guy, who can fill in as a black if needed. I could give up my alternate black guy spot, if you are planing to stick around.?

I don't think we have a Native American. Perhaps you could post as one, to increase our diversity, as you have NA blood.

Also you misspelled a word. No biggie, it's just I am so ####### about grammar and stuff, the other regulars have gotten use to it.. No Offense

The OP.. Hardly a troll. Most of us here could be considered trolls.

Hahahahaha Brownie

and all this time, I thought coming together as a nation, unified in common purpose to win wars, build railroads across countries, go to the moon, eradicate disease, stop segregation, and become the most prosperous nation on earth was why we are great.

Now I found out it is because of our differences. well who knew
