there was no place to upload the picture. It simply just said 'picture will be taken at ASC' Is this something new because it seems we were researching and a lot of people had the same problem.

An ASC (Applicant Service Center) is a facility contracted by the U.S. government to collect biometric data (photo and fingerprints) from visa applicants prior to submission to the consular section. Did your instructions from the embassy say anything about having the photos taken there?

No we didn't get any instructions on going there to get the picture taken. We found out in the DS-160 some countries make you upload a picture and some countries (including Brazil) do not.

When you start filling your application, there is a link to upload the picture, yes. Do it.

However, when you print the confirmation page (the only one you need to bring to the interview), a message "'picture will be taken at ASC" appears.

So, do not worry about it. It is completely normal in Brazil.

Good Luck!

I'm having the same problem. Have you found out how to fix it?

Click on that browse button, is the picture on his computer? If so once you click that he can browse where ever he saved the picture and load it .You have to have a picture or it will reject it .

Everywhere is different we were told we had to upload a picture . That's good to know you can bring a picture

M&G, We have submitted our ds160 and it was accepted. He will bring the 2 required pictures, it seems Brazil is one of the few countries that do not allow you to upload a picture. Different process for every country I guess! Wish us luck, our interview is on the 23rd!

Thanks for the reply, GusandCrys. Have you emailed the consulate and asked them about this? I sent them an email 2 days ago and another one today. Haven't heard from them yet. I might have to do what you did but I'm kinda worried... what if we get there and they tell us the form wasn't filled out correctly and therefore they need to reschedule our interview? O.O
