And there are the people who buy a $47K hybrid car because they want to feel like they are making a "green" difference and saving fuel too even though they could of spent $20K on a car and never spent the other $27K on gasoline .... But this is America my friends and if we want to march on the streets, carry a sign, start a cause, wave a flag or write our leaders letters to try and make a difference -- we get to do that!!

Hopefully in here we get to do that without criticism as we are all in the same boat.

I must admit ... the comment of "breaking out in tears" WAS a bit much for even me to handle.

OK folks, let's focus on the next series of letters to USCIS, and I did say "series".

I believe Alaskafan and BOS_LHR are saying the same thing, just differently.

I was also thinking about keeping the pressure UP - Strike while the iron is hot headbonk.gif .

I was thinking that we send 2 letters at least:

1. Tue, 12/3: Thanking Goodlatte and other high ranking officials that they recognized our pain and took action and USCIS sent an email, etc. In this email we can NOW clearly state that the reason for this backlog is DACA - Republicans will love to see this rolleyes.gif.

2. Tue 1/14 or 1/21: From VJ and other sites we can get an idea on how the USCIS is keeping their word of 7.4 months on NOA-2; if we see that is not happening then another complaint letter to Goodlatte and other high ranking officials.

Thoughts?

(PS: if someone got NOA-2 in 19 days, so what, we need to "stay the course" )

good.gif I think thanking them for their attention while making it clear that we're not happy yet is a great idea. Showing ourselves to be a civil, intelligent, and reasonable -- but also loud and organized! -- group of people who are simply pursuing fair treatment under the law is an excellent approach. I also think leaving some buffer time after the holiday is a good idea and an appropriate moment to show we're holding them to their word. I'm on board.

YES! We completely agree that we just have to keep knocking until they open the door. I think we should also share (if one wants to) their letter on VJ. It is helpful for us and for everyone to have some sort of template. Everyone can write a letter, but if we are all addressing the same points and come off serious, not childish, we are bound to get more attention. We are trying to write a basic letter to send of but I am unsure of how personal it should be. Anyway, it will be great to send waves of mail tracking the progress on what they have promised.

Why do you always have to rain on the CR/IR-1s parade? What is your goal by posting these types of comments? Just let everyone be happy and leave it be.

I'm just trying to keep it real.

It was great there was some sort of acknowledgement.

What it doesn't mean is that the floodgates have opened and people should be weeping in the streets.

What it doesn't mean is that the floodgates have opened and people should be weeping in the streets.

You're trying to keep it real for people who are begging for a glimmer of hope and are trying to find something to lift their spirits. And this did.

No one ever said the floodgates have opened. I'm fairly sure everyone realizes that. Of all people, we know that.

Looks like our letter might have gotten some attention:

Immigration Reform 2013: House Judiciary To Challenge Obama On Deferred Action, And Obamacare

A day after a pro-immigration reform activist confronted President Barack Obama and challenged him to use executive power to stop all deportations, the House Judiciary Committee announced plans to investigate whether the president is a faithful steward of the law. A hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. next Tuesday, and the full committee is expected to attend.

Under Article II, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution, among the president’s responsibilities is to “Take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” Obama’s past actions to unilaterally delay or suspend certain portions of laws have left Republicans concerned about the possibility of an overreach.

A House Judiciary aide said on Tuesday that lawmakers plan to look at the effects of these actions and what, if any, steps Congress can take if Obama isn’t in its view faithfully executing laws.

Among the issues that have riled Republicans is the president’s one-year postponement of the employer mandate of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, while not granting the same reprieve from the mandate for individual Americans. Republicans are also skeptical of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, an administrative policy announced last year to suspend deportation and allow segments of the undocumented immigrant population to apply for work permits.

“President Obama has failed on several occasions to enforce acts of Congress that he disagrees with for policy reasons,” the House aide said. “Moreover, the president has stretched his regulatory authority to put in place policies that the Congress has refused to enact.”

I don't see where they mention anything about us though. Perhaps we should contact the author? I did that with the article on Breitbart the other day and he apparently read the information and produced a second article on it. Might be worth a shot?
