hi I need some help with filling the g325a form for my husband ( petitioner) with this question about last 5 years addresses, we're not sure if he needs to put his address from staying in kind of working motel for employees (north dakota and other job in alaska) - which was paid for by his employer, so he was only sleeping and eating there for few months while working, he wasn't really living there, our problem is that he doesn't remember the address so is it necessary ? or can we just put instead an address of his brothers place, which he is living in right now too and he was coming back to for holidays etc. when working in Ak,ND.

and in mine - should I put my work and travel program addresses on my list?

Anyone can help ? :)

address's are formal ones that generally last 6 months or more. Where you would have bills and mail sent to. Where you would change your driver's licence to for example. A motel for work doesn't really qualify as a permanent residence.

ok so we should just write one residence for this time while he was working in different states, right ?

and do you know maybe if my studies should be posted somewhere in g325a form?I think I might read it somewhere but it was not a certain information ( I just graduated this july ) and I was twice on work and travel program - I assume that I should listed it in jobs section, but not in residence since it was less than six months etc. ?

it asks for employment, not schooling. If you were employed for any period of time, write it down.

For any residence list any "permanent" residence. Somewhere he had bills sent to or his driver's licence based off of. If he didn't have a permanent residence then he can write that as well.

For instance:

In 2011 I lived in "Place A" then I moved to "Place B" for 2 weeks and finally to "Place C" where I was living when we filed. I wrote down "Place A" and "Place C" but not "Place B" because I wasn't really living there. I didn't pay rent, have bills, change my driver's licence etc... It was temporary.

However lets say when I was in college, because I had a phone bill and bank information that actually used my residence address, I would have written that address on my G325a if it had been in the last 5 years. Some people don't write it down because they consider it temporary housing, even if it lasts longer than 6 months, and they use their parent's address as their permanent one.

thank you, well explained.

One more question for which you might know the answer : my hubby (petitioner) has the typo in his birth certificate in his name ( he ordered it sometime ago, because the original one was lost and he never fixed it :/ ) , what's more our marriage certif. has his typo name, but his passport has his proper name, it is only one letter missing - for instance instead Doley is Doly . I was searching the forum and I found two different opinion on that - leave it or changed it. in our case it would be a lot to change - his birth certif and then our marriage certif. and that would cost some money.

I am just confused now, because I don't know which document we should use to prove his citizenship. passport? or birth certif. , they are checking him also by ssn, right ? and what we should write in I130 and g 325a?

it is not a big deal, is it ?

He should write the misspelled name under "other names known" if he doesn't want to fix it at this time. He can use either document to prove citizenship, but it's the entire passport or just the birth certificate, which is much less to photocopy. (but of course in your case has the wrong name.... he could check on how much and how fast he could get the birth certificate corrected and do the marriage certificate at a later date.)
