8 weeks since NOA2, still no case number

Hello, tomorrow is officially 8 weeks since the date on my NOA2. Called NVC and I was advised to send a scan of my NOA2 hardcopy to nvcresearch@state.gov. Just sent that e-mail.

I was wondering if there's anyone who waited longer than 8 weeks for the case number? Are there any other steps I should take. Should I call USCIS and ask for confirmation about when the file was sent to NVC? I'm just a bit nervous that they lost my file because from what I've read, as soon as something goes wrong in this process, the waiting game gets longer and more painful.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I heard CSC is way much longer sent case file to NVC. But 8 weeks is something you have to concern because no matter how slow CSC sent it as far as I know since the last 2 months in average times people started get their case number not much longer than 6 weeks. Which number did you try to call?

Also you should get mail from NVC as well. My fiance received it by mail a week after my case number was given on phone by the lady at DoS - see my timeline on signature-. How many times did you call them?

I understand you need to be concern. There is another post here, she's from Germany, and still don't get a case number yet and her I-797 will expire this November.

It took us 10 weeks from receiving NOA2 to receiving a case number. They advised me the same thing at around the 8 week mark as well (email a scan to nvcresearch). I also called USCIS to ask and also mentioned that NVC might be contacting them as well. I never got an explanation of why it took so long.

Just an update. Sent an email to NVCresearch@state.gov with a scan of my NOA2 on 11/6 and called today (11/12) and finally got a case number! They even sent it out to the Tokyo Consulate today. They said it was received 11/7.

Thanks everyone for the insight. On to the next step!

I received my NOA2 on November 21st and the NVC hasn't received my case yet. I'm going on 10 weeks. The USCIS told

me it can take up to 90 days for them to mail it out. It's really stressful. I emailed nvcresearch@state.gov two weeks ago with the proper info & my scanned I-797 and still no response.

I'm assuming it's the holidays and the weather that is holding us all up.
