To clear out any doubts for those having Interviews in India, please ignore all the experiences people had prior to October of 7th, 2013. The process has changed in India. No forms need to be filled out by beneficiary except for online DS-160. There will not be any packets mailed to Beneficiary other than a Interview letter in regular postal mail to the beneficiary (takes 2-3 weeks). It is this letter the benefeciary should have to get medical and OFC done. Prior to receiving the letter in postal mail, you may fill out DS-160 and pay the $240 fee. Once these are all done, please check ustraveldocs website daily to see if any appointment dates would show up and schedule it sooner than the date scheduled by NVC. Even though ours was scheduled for 25th of Nov, the website allowed us to change to Oct 28th, 2013 and we were done with all of that and still waiting for the passport to arrive. It is delayed due to the holidays on Nov 4th and 5th.

The important thing is to have the PCC, Birth Certficate and all other documents ready while waiting for the interview letter to arrive and the process will go that much quicker.

Sir, thanks for the useful information. Can you please (personal email address removed for personal security reasons - VJ Moderation Team) reply here your phone number. I need to ask a question. It would be really helpful as my visa is also in last stage. You can help me in understanding new process.

Thanks.

Hello! My fiance was approved by the Mumbai consulate this week, so I can try to help you out!

1. Check your email daily! We didn't get anything via post. We got our instructions through email about a day after the consulate received our case.

2. It's not too difficult. I don't think you'd need a lawyer unless you have special circumstances in your case, like a criminal record or overstaying a visa, things like that. It just takes a bit of time to fill it out.

3. The visa fee has to be paid before you are able to schedule your interview. (Yes, you get to chose your own interview date! More info on that should come in your first email from the consulate!)

HI all,

My Petition has been approved on 5th Feb 2014, and waiting to get transferred to the NVC whereas my last interview had held in Mumbai back in 2013, this time we have submitted the address changed letter to the USCIS do the change in my address.

I am bit of confused or unsure that is the be possible that NVC will sent my petition over again to the Mumbai consulate even though they have my new address which is in New Delhi. I am bit concerned about this.

I would like to seek advice from you all that if in the worst case scenario if they do transfer the case to Mumbai, what would be my course of action to get the case back to New Delhi. Whereas I have a conversation with NVC center and they informed me that once you have a case no# you can write us an e-mail and our consulate will review on your request. Here I would like to ask you all that has any one is been this kind of situation, what would be the turnaround time for them to give a answer on your request. Or if anyone has any suggestion in this matter which will help me to take a prior step before assigning any case no# on my petition so that I can have my consulate office as a Delhi rather than Mumbai.

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply !!!

Once you receive your case number it will be much easier for you to track you case and make the changes or ensure that it is going to the right consulate. If you fiance/e citizen know any congressman then tell him/her to contact them and tell them to make a inquiry about your case, by which you will know your case number and then you can e-mail NVC or Call consulate call center with case number and inform them the situation.

That is all I can say for right now. Hope everything goes well.

Best of luck !!!
