Medical Exam for AOS after K1

Hello!

So I enter the US under a K1 visa. We got married and now we are almost ready to file for AOS. Here is my question.

When I had my medical exam in London for the K1 I couldn't show my vaccination record. They told me it was fine. I would just had to go to my doctor once in the US, have a blood test and it will show my immunizations. The rest of the medical went fine (blood test, chest x-ray...) I have read that this results are valid for a year and that I don't need to go through another medical exam for the AOS. I just need the vaccination part fill in by a Civil Surgeon. Am I wrong?

The thing is, I called one of the Civil Surgeon on the list of the USCIS for California. He tells me I have to go through the whole medical examination again, that is TB test, blood test... AGAIN!!?? I only need him to fill in the vaccination part from the I-693 form, because the results of my medical examination in London are in the system already right? And I have the paper from the doctors in London and he only has to fill the vaccination report. I already went to my doctor, had my vaccinations up to date.

I just have the feeling that this Civil Surgeon wants to charge me money for doing everything all over again, because he kept saying 'it doesn't matter if you already had a chest x-ray and a blood test in London, it is included in the price I charge, and the CDC requires me to do it again"

Any ideas? Im about to call other Civil Surgeons in Northern California to see if they all need me to go through the same thing again.

Somebody could help me here? Is not that I have anything to hide, if there would have been something they wouldn't have let me in the US under a K1, but I just have the feeling that this guy wants to charge me money for doing some tests that are not needed. The only part that was left was the vaccination part.

Thank you very much guys!

You are right. Most civil surgeons either want to rip immigrants off, wont listen or just don't know about K-1 /refugee exception which is clearly written on p5 of the form and in instructions etc. anyways, you just need to keep calling until you find one that will transcribe the information for you for a decent price. Search "surgeons that wont rip you off" in the forum, someone might have already found one in your area.

I called about 20 before finding one that'll do it cheap.

It is not where I breathe but where I love that I live.

Thank you agnesb!

I just have the feeling that he wanted to charge me no matter what and I pretty sure I dont have to go through the whole medical exam again!

Agnesb is spot on. Curious...what was his fee? Did you ask?
