Hello everyone, this looks like a great website.

We live in Nicaragua. I am a US citizen. WIfe is a Nicaraguan Citizen. Married just under 2 years. Verifiably together fully for 7 years.

No desire to move the the US. My mother who lives in Pittsburgh and is very elderly has lung cancer.

Want to visit her with wife once, maybe twice before my mom passes.

Here i s the Nicaragua situation.

I am self employed here, full verifiable solid income for several years. (I think on a tourist visa that is irrelevant)

Wife owns a small retail store in Nicaragua, (mini super and liquor store) for about 18 months. Fully with permits, papers, tax returns, permitted and provable. She owns a vehicle and has Nicaragua bank account with verifiable deposit stream. She additionall has a world class e commerce website for her store for online ordering with local delivery that has a domain name age of 2 years. And is successful.

She speaks fluent english and is savvy.

Other than my mom, no reason to be in the US.

What are our options?

Thank you for any responses!

Try apply for Tourist visa for your wife?

Get doctor letter to prove that your mom's health is not good, that both of you would like to visit her before she passes on.

Bring plenty of evidences to show ties to Nicaragua.

Ok, I guess my question is.. Is the above sufficient to establish the "strong tie" criteria?

Only the US Embassy can tell you that after your wife applies for a visitor visa.

All we can do is give you a guess based on incomplete information.

DOes anybody have an opinion if it is better or worse for me to be present at the interview?

Actually could be relevant, what is your status?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I would agree with Boiler, your business is relevant and does show as ties to home country.

Seems you have good ties, your business, your wife's business etc. I would not bank much on the domain name or any business done via web site.

Married, Not a resident but we reside here. Have spent a total of 64 days in the US in the past 8 years. This is evidenced by stamps on my passport.

Thanks!

What are you if not a Resident?

Point is the website is order online... they deliver to your house or hotel in San Juan Del Sur. So is a local ecommerce site for the bricks and mortar store.

Just take all the paper evidence ?

Unusual for paper evidence to be looked at.

Visa approved!

We both went to the window on Friday. She started to explain. The agent asked me how long I lived in Nicaragua (I guess I am relevant on a tourist visa interview). I told him +/- 3 years and Costa Rica for 6 prior. He looked at my and her passport stamps. (they are equal for that timeframe). He asked for a marriage cert and how long her business has existed. Did not ask for any medical evidence or any other docs and approved it. Will receive it Tuesday. Interview was about 90 minutes after the appointment time.

Glad to hear you were approved! I can only imagine how hard it must be to have your mother sick but at least now you both will be able to visit her.

My best wishes!
