*** Thread moved from Off Topic forum to the Philippines regional subforum -- country-specific topic. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I am glad to hear this. We did everything by the book and I wondered about bribery throughout the entire process. We are finally ten days away from being together again and we are sooooooo happy! Best of luck and God bless everyone.

PAY IT.....

I did not know about this and my fiancée was bribed (he asked for lunch for 3 of them---did not answer how much so she threw him 500Php

Now I know a few of the Filipinas here will balk at this....but my feeling is....THIS IS NOT the time to try and change the corrupt system over there....just get her out of the country as fast as possible

You don't want something to backfire if you create a stink on the spot

then you are screwed for hurting the poor sticker-person's feelings. and yes, possible delay. Sure, CFO doesn't tolerate bribery. But has it actually stopped?

ok, since you are pro with scrutinizing logic. if you choose not to bribe, then duh. of course she might get delayed. you already answered your own question.

how exactly are we "screwed for hurting the poor sticker-person's feelings"

- i guess the prob is we might get delayed if she tries to fight it...???

if my logic is flawed, then your common sense needs to be reported missing. for someone who sounds smart, you surely play dumb quite well.

CFO doesn't tolerate bribery. But has it actually stopped? -> this is in response to "CFO doesn't tolerate bribery so if you experienced to pay someone in CFO to get sticker. please send the name of the person on this email"

I don't see why people need to pay any amount of bribe if they play by the book. Corrupt people further corrupt if they see a potential victim. I say, why would anybody even prepare to bribe if there's no need? If the applicant has all the info, documents / requirements, then why would the sticker guy ask for money? Don't create the need! I haven't done my CFO seminar yet, but I'll prepare myself, enough not to even imagine of bribing anybody.

I believe that CFO is really trying their best in making their agency corrupt-free. yes.gif

OH REALLY??? and what inside information do YOU have on this subject???

NOTHING...NADA...ZIPPO

You are just insulted that your country is stacked with levels of corruption---insulted that it is being reported on,,,,,sad how people will not call a spade a spade

Nationalism.....a very blinding thing

WITH ALL THE BRIBERY TAKING PLACE AT CFO.....some must be reporting it....someone also MUST have told the officials there

to simply read this website and get a taste of how much it is happening

And yet....it's STILL happening

PUT IN RECORDING DEVICES and catch the scum bags!

Plant fake interviewees....and catch the low life's

PASS SOME LAWS to make if a crime...

THATS..."trying your best"""

Nothing, really, Bgamb. Just an assumption. innocent.gif Same logic of assumptions as when one drives in a highway, trusting the next car won't just decide to swerve right in front of you on the last second. Yeah, it happens.

Insulted? Not at all. I do know that corruption is rampant in PI, and it's a known fact here. It's worse and magnified because of its micro scale. It's the same everywhere anyways. In Europe and US, it's not on the streets, if you get my drift. Here, people complain because they see, hear and experience it on everyday things.

But still, just saying, I am not going to participate in any sort of it. no0pb.gif I feel sorry for people that were asked to bribe, just because of their lack of documents/ info. Again, if there's no reason to, why does one have to?

Sweet cheeks....you sound like a really nice girl...but, you are being very naive

First of all.....if you are not aware (ask Hank for confirmation)......the stupid CFO does not even have CLEAR guidelines as to WHAT documents are required

That in itself ENCOURAGES corruption in a corruption filled world over there.......because these guys can ask for ANY document in hopes that the fiance does not have it.....but....a bribe will make it all "better"....the "problem" will go away

Read some of the topics here...people have been asked for all kinds of things not on a list anywhere (I think one was the birth certificate of the petitioner...)

Correction......it is NOT "the same everywhere anyways".....you have WAYYYYY more of it

On my second trip to the Philippines...on my exiting flight....I did not have the cebu sticky tag on one of my carry-ons......going thru the final x-ray....the security guard noticed it....and guess what???? yeah...you guessed it...bribe time....

In the usa....all I had to do was yell out that the security guy was asking for a bribe and/or go turn him in....and he would be TOAST (his butt would be fired)

AND...it would probably be on the NY City news that night

If I went to turn YOUR security guard in...HIS boss would probably want a BIGGER bribe from me or threaten to lock me up on some bogus charge haha

Honey...get your head out of the clouds.....
