I just paid my MRV fee online and printed out the instructions it provides directly after this. In the instructions there is a section entitled 'general required documents - for all visa types'.

Within this it states that I must take a 'non-immigrant visa application form DS-160 confirmation page' to the interview.

To the best of my knowledge during the whole K-1 visa process, I have never been instructed to fill out a DS-160. Also, after checking since reading this I still cannot see any k-1 instructions telling me to do this. Should I do this prior to my interview? has anyone else?

P.s. is a k-1 visa technically a non-immigrant visa since you are doing all your adjustment of status stuff once you are in the country and married?

Thank you for any help.

No you do not need to fill out DS 160

here is the link http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html#6

and it says:

Hi Robert - yes, the K-1 visa is a 'non-immigrant' visa. It authorises a legal presence in the US but not a permanent residence until you adjust status.

Sorry now I am confused I just went to the link you posted above and it says the DS-160 is required. The DS-156 is not even listed on that page... did I miss something?

You, the foreign-citizen fiancé(e), (and eligible children applying for K-2 visas) will be required to bring the following forms and documents to the visa interview:

  • Complete Form DS-160: Your fiancé(e) and his or her children must each complete Form DS-160 to apply for a K1/K2 visa. Go to ceac.state.gov to complete the DS-160. You must: 1) complete the online visa application and 2) print the application form confirmation page to bring to your interview.

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Embassy/Consulate forum -- topic involves the interview phase. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hey Robert

I'm curious if you solve this.

So the only form you took for the interview was this?

Its seems that the form only ask information about me (beneficiary) and not my U.S. fiance.

The form asks about you because you are the one applying for the visa.

A US citizen has no need to apply for a visa to enter the US. You, the foreign fiance(e), are asking for approval to receive a K-1 visa that allows you to enter the US in order to marry your USC fiance(e) within 90 days of entry. The USC fiance(e) filed the I-129F petition, which granted approval for you to be allowed to apply for the K-1 visa at the US consulate in your country.

Yes, your fiance would be your US contact.

Yes, bring everything your consulate instructions ask you to bring to the interview. Most likely everything listed here under "Required Documentation" > http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html

And anything else your consulate specifically asks for.
