K-1 Joint financial sponsor (US Embassy London)

Hello,

I'm new to this website and I'm hoping to get a bit of guidance from someone. I am an American citizen, my fiance is a British citizen and we have applied for the K-1 visa. My application was accepted on July 29th and he has had his letter from the embassy requesting various paperwork and informing him to set up his medical exam. I would like to know the following:

* Nothing was mentioned about financial sponsorship, but I will require a co-sponsor and I was wondering if anyone knew what forms these would be so I could fill them out ahead of time to not delay the process any further? I thought the sponsorship form was form I-134 but I'm not sure if it's the same for co-sponsor/household member.

* For his embassy medical exam, will he be required to supply his current medical history or any correspondence from his GP? He's a very healthy guy and has no problems, but the NHS can take very long to generate medical records and/or letters and I didn't know if it was a good idea for him to request these in advance before the medical appointment?

* We have just had a daughter together (born in the US in July this year) and I have not yet received her birth certificate, would they accept the unofficial certificate from the hospital as well as the declaration of paternity forms in place of the birth certificate?

* Will I be required to attend any interviews here in Los Angeles?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

* Sponsorship is listed in the required documents for interview page. http://london.usembassy.gov/application_documents.html Whoever is doing the financial sponsorship should complete the I-134, and include necessary evidence to prove the finances (see instructions for more: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-134instr.pdf ).

* No. Don't need to get medical history. If he has any known medical issues, particularly those relating to mental health, it would be prudent to have his GP write a letter about it to explain, but otherwise he doesn't need anything. The only thing he should try and get are his vaccination records, else they'll make him get ones he's already had again. See more here: http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/medical-examination.html (pdf to the right with more detailed info)

* Congratulations! Not sure. Someone else will have to respond.

* No. It would be very unusual for the petitioner to be called to interview, particularly in the US. London doesn't do that, and they don't expect you to be there with him, either.

You'll find loads more detail and other questions you may have covered in this big thread (London K1s NOA2 to interview): http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your reply. I feel a little less confused now, this process can be so overwhleming at times, I just can't wait till it's all completed and he's home with us. Thanks again. :)

To add to the above--

Don't use the link given to the embassy's immunization PDF for required shots. It's about four years out of date. Use the Info in this post http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/?p=5135804. It is still valid. Or this one http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/panel/vaccination-panel-technical-instructions.html#tbl1

You got a letter so go to the web page given and read all the instructions there. They aren't in the letter.

Form I-134 for London (not other countries) -- One sponsor. If not you, then somebody else. Do not need two forms. Prove income any way you can---they seem to like letters from employer and hand back the rest. Does not require a tax return, but that's another good proof.

The baby-- not sure what the question is. She was born in the US, so is a US citizen. She doesn't need a visa and the embassy doesn't need her birth certificate.

The VISA process is two parts

1) USCIS. Your petition. It would be extremely rare to interview. They just approve, which it sounds like has happened. Done.

2) Dept of State (NVC and embassy). His application for a visa. Only he goes to interview. It's all about him with nothing from you except an affidavit of support. In your specific case, somebody else will be supplying that.

After marriage, he has to apply for a greencard. That could require an interview for both of you in L.A. Or it could be approved with interview.
