yer wife holds one of those 'certain immigrant visas' already.

However - for ultimate clarification,

file the FAFSA online, then talk with a financial aid officer at the university.

I remember, in the past, that one had to meet residency requirements of the school, as to which level of tuition one paid..

Pell grant is available to US citizens and Green Card Holder.(Permanent Residents)-( how you got green card would be irrelevant). Also as previous member mentioned, residency requirement mite be in effect. Also, I believe, you need to be full-time and below the required income level. I received Pell grant, stafford loan and other state grants on Green card. That's how I completed college. Big Thank You, USA.

I received green card through immigrant visa ( mother's sibling)

if it's distance learning (online courses) then it wouldn't matter.

I don't think School visa ( I assume you meant student visa) is eligible for pell grant.

Sure wasn't any pell grants for my stepdaughter that graduated last year. University claimed all that money was going to Iraq or Afghanistan.

My kids that did get pell grants, government really made out with that. Getting back huge amount of money in FICA and federal income taxes. And not going that far back, just about eight years ago. Not only this, but tuition rates have literally skyrocketed over this same time period.

Even to get admitted, she had to show her green card for the very first time. But after a couple of years, could show her US citizenship that didn't make any difference.

Read that for one super carrier less, could send all of our kids to college, Already have a navy that is stronger than the next 17 countries combined. And feel we are making a lot more enemies than friends by doing this. We, or I should say our leaders are building a whole bunch of these super carriers.
