The State Department has issued the following notice

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment.

However, my fiance has not yet received his Packet 3. We are filling out what we think will be included in the Packet 3 based upon what folks here at VJ have said so he can be ready. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the Packet 3 from the French Embassy?

Also, we would like to schedule the medical close to the time of the interview, because it is expensive for my fiance to travel to Paris twice. Any other French fiances have advice about the medical/interview process?

Thanks!

At this time of the year i think you should receive it in like a month after NVC sent it. They are working really slowly at this time of the year. I got mine about a month after NVC sent it and it was in may/june.

Also wait for packet 4 in order to schedule the medical if your fiance doesn't live near paris. You won't know your interview date before you receive the packet4 so as soon as you know it you can call the different doctors for the medical so they can give you an appointment really close to your interview.

For the doctor, I also agree with lolla

Good luck in your visa journey!

Wow at least i could find them an excuse to move slowly in summer months as i know it is a busy time for non immigrant visa demand and they are short on people because of the annual summer vacation. Plus add all the french+american holidays they take off and there are a bunch from may-august and i knew that my visa application arriving at this time was not the greatest.

However i don't see why they would be slow other months... i guess they are just taking the french administration pace lol

Hello

I was wondering about when the medical exams should be taken as well.

I live in Paris right now and I am moving out of Paris by the end of the month.

I hoped I could do that before I leave Paris but it sounds like I will not be able to do so and will have to come back just for the medical exams and another time for the interview. :/

We started the process for obtaining a K-1 Visa in January, 2013 (I-129F form).

We were approved on June 20, 2013 (NOA2).

On July 11, our case was finally forwarded by the Service Center to the National Visa Center (NVC).

On July 22, our case was finally forwarded by NVC to U.S. Embassy.

I do not know when the Embassy really received t it but on the ceac.state.gov website. The status is Ready. But I do not know what it really means since I did not get Packet 3 yet!

Case Creation Date:19-Jul-2013

Status Updated Date:25-Jul-2013

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:http://travel.state..../info_3731.html

Anyway no answer from the embassy so far and they did not reply to my emails either... It does not seem there is any direct phone line to the service that handles the Visa... right ?

Now it looks like the status on the uscis.gov website changed back to "On July 11, 2013, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing."

Does anybody have Packet 3 from Paris embassy and could upload it here please?

Thanks

It usually takes about a month from when NVC mailed it. If you look at the timeline from the french k1 that's about what you'll see.

The Paris embassy is far from being the fastest unfortunately.

Do not pay too much attention to the ceac status either. It can stay on ready for a while before/after the interview without much happening. Look at the update date and you ll see when your case got touched.

Ok so I should get it around the 20th since it will be one month.

As for the medical exams and the medical visit, is there an expiration date. I guess yes... but is there one on both the exams and the visit or just the exams?

Can I do the x-ray and the blood test for the "Syphilis" now? and eventually the vaccinations I need to do.

Then when I'll get my interview date, I'll plan the medical visit one or two day before and I can come in Paris for 2/3 days and do the medical visit and the interview.

Or should the medical exams be done the week before the interview as well?

Any idea?

Thanks.

Is there anything actually in the Packet Three that you need to send back, which you can't download? I know that when we got an RFE there was this gold top page included, that we had to send back with our response.

I mean, is it possible to just send the forms that we've prepared (DS-2001 - DS-230) around the right time and hope that they just cross in the post? We filed in December and we really need our interview date within the next 6 weeks.

You can do the medical anytime. It is good to know your interview date so you can schedule it at your convenience. Usually the embassy gives you the instructions for the medical in packet 4 with your interview date, you usually get packet 4 about a month before your interview. The medical is valid for a year for the AOS so you won't have to d it again. The embassy accepts the medical for 6 months. I would advise you to do it between packet 3 and packet 4

No, but i don't know what it would do if they receive your packet 3 forms before they actually mail it to you. If they haven't mailed it to you it is because they aren't done processing your case.

Trust me for the waiting you aren't out of the regular timelines. It took me freaking 8 months just for the NOA2, just like you i was impatient. Unfortunately it won't make them go faster. Try to email them, insist , email them back if no answer and the may reply to you. It was always taking me several intents before they actually replied.

Check you status on ceac website, look at the updates and you ll see when your case got "touched"

Some people say it is fine, but I wouldn't try and mess the system up. All you can possibly win is a couple of days, and you can also waste weeks by creating a mess. I know waiting is long and frustrating, but in the long run, it is better to just wait...

Good luck in your visa journey!
