I wonder if someone can please give me some hope.

In 2004 I was diagnosed with Depression and spent 3 months in hospital and in 2010 I was struck down again by my ex partner leaving me for someone ele.

I was also diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and depression. I made some bad choices and in May and July 2010 I took an overdose and was in hospital overnight.

I have remained on anti depressants ever since but I'm glad to say that I have been well for 3 years now.

I am extremely worried that I will not pass the medical examination due to my history.

My Doctor has said she will write a letter saying that I am not a threat to myself or anyone else.

To summarise, I am "the best" I have ever been and I think testament to that is that fact that my mother passed away on Christmas Eve last year and I have dealt with that in a productive way with no signs of my past issues reoccurring

The thought of waiting 5 months for processing and then possible denial is difficult to come to terms with.

If anyone has any experience of a similar situation I would appreciate you sharing your story.

Thanks in advance

Stazie.

I think as long as you can proof you are not a risk to yourself or anyone else you are good. Take all your mental health history and the letter from your doctor stating what you said. Are you taking any meds right now? It's just my personal and professional opinion (I'm a psychologist) but if you are in a current treatment, you need to figure out how are going to get the meds once you are here if you are actually approve. Make a plan so you can be ready to have an accurate response if the civil surgeon asks you how are going to keep working in your treatment.

Nick-Nick always has the best line on this... here's a previous response from her (she's said the same thing more recently, but I can never find the thing I want again): http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/378812-medical-reports/?p=5539719

For anxiety, depression, or psychological conditions, I believe the magic words need to be written that he does not think you "will be a harmful to yourself or others" because of your condition.

So your letter should be sufficient - ask the GP to be very explicit in his wording.

Edit: Here's the more recent post I was looking for and couldn't find: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/441618-medical-exam-advisemental-healthuk/

Stazi1--

You have a pretty complex case. Knightsbridge will want details of your history from the doctor(s) who have more knowledge of you.

Dates, dignoses, medications past or ongoing, as well as prognosis. They want more than your re-telling.
