Not at all. This is not MMA, this is self defense. Just because the the State's witness used that term to justify GZ's self defense, does not mean it was an MMA match and the rules do not apply.

In self defense the idea is to WIN. The idea is to be the guy sitting in court and for the animal attacking you to be killed. When the attacking animal gives you the opportunity to use deadly force by giving you a reasonable belief that you could suffer serious injury at his hands, then you kill him. Hopefully you have chosen to carry an adequate firearm for the purpose.

In self defense you do NOT fight fair, you kill the person as quickly as possible. You do not, EVER, use deadly force unless it is allowed and justified and then it is best if the use of it results in the death of the attacking vermin.

GZ not only did society a huge favor by eradicating this pestilence before he hurt some person unable to defend themselves, he did so exactly in accordance with the law as written.

GZ walks. You all know it. Nothing is going to, or can, happen to change that. TM was on top, assaulting GZ in a way that any person with 2 functioning brain cells would understand causes a reasonable fear of death or serious injury...that is the criteria for the use of deadly force in self defense. Case is closed. There is no possible way this will result in a 2nd degree murder conviction. Saying otherwise is mental masturbation.

Trying to say that GZ should have stayed in his car is blaming the victim for being at the scene of the crime. Nonsense.

In every fight I've been in I never thought at the end of this fight one of us will be dead. At a certain point one is victorious and one gives in or is knocked out. I'd be in prison right now if I used your formula for success just once.

If your animalistic version of society was true there would be millions of murders every year "in addition" to the many thousands of murders we already have.

If MMA training doesn't prepare you to win a street fight against a 150 lbs 17 year old without a gun, then you shouldn't be on any kind of watch group...you should stay indoors and be a online tough guy.

Yeah, I would say more than one person has died after hitting their head on concrete. Seems reasonable to assume.

And do not forget that deadly force justification requires only the reasonable fear of severe injury OR death.

I have a family member that just bumped his head on a desk. Plugging in a computer. He ended up spending 3 weeks in a coma with brain trama. Dr said only 10% of persons with this type of injury ever go back to work. . It seems that any blow to the head can be deadly . How many hits to the sidewalk before serious injury is involved.....I would say one.. I am not a doctor but just understanding what happened to this family member. As you age your brain does shrink and the trama of the brain just hitting the skull from that shrinkage can be deadly. (the swelling of the brain) rather than the outside blow. to the head..Perhaps someone with more medical knowledge can comment further.

A gunshot wound to the chest at point blank can keep you from work also.

I have never been in a fight, I am not a violent person so I have avoided those. I live in a safe city where people are armed and fighting is rare.

Just bear in mind, this is a court case based in law, not a personal argument between you and i. What you and I think has nothing to do with anything.

There is a law which delineates the lawful use of deadly force. GZ meets that requirement. There is nothing in the law that says "...Unless you have MMA training and weigh 50 pounds more than your attacker" You don't have to like that or agree with it. TMs actions gave GZ the reason to use deadly force.

Your assumptions and assessments, in addition to being silly, make no difference and no one in the prosecution is going to use that argument in an attempt to convict for 2nd degree murder. You know it and so do I. If your goal is to get +1s from idiots...you probably accomplished that.

I suggest you work with your state's elected legislators about getting the "MMA training clause" incorporated in your state's deadly force law. It does not exist in Florida law.

You mean "Dewey" and that was an election in 1948 before modern communications. Dewey did not claim victory, a newspaper did. This is a court case based on law. Helllllloooooooooo!

"Beyond a reasonable doubt" of a unanimous jury is the standard which must be met to convict. Not some editor's approval to run with a headline. As if we haven't had enough of that also

But this is interesting and I have a question for you.

What can you imagine happening in this case that would erase reasonable doubt in ALL the jurors at this point? What specifically? Are you still thinking they will forget the witnesses they saw and that the defense will provide evidence to convict GZ? I would like to hear your thoughts on what COULD possibly happen.

It may not be a law, but it does factor into the minds of a juror to what's "reasonable". Which may be difficult to comprehend to some, but others are quite adept at.

The outcome may eventually be more of a shock to you than it is to me, because I'm not on any white or black side of this subject.

You have demonstrated over and over what you think of the 17 year old deceased animal in this case. Not my words, but your own. You've went from not caring at all on the bad GZ days, to having deep opinions on the guilty thug that TM was when the situation changed. If the verdict is guilty I'm sure you'll be once again whisked away into your vacation and back to semi-interested state once again. All without a tv or watching the case at all...that's almost clairvoyant.

The irony in all this is that Al and Jesse are going to be even less credible when this is all over. Seems they become less relevant everyday. I saw that Paula Deen is asking Jesse Jackson for advice on racism. Ironic how getting advice from a racist might somehow absolve you of your racist past. Funny how that works.

Yes but as has been pointed out it is actually a term of endearment. I doubt it hurt her testimony much, racism by non-whites does not really garner much emotional response from whites let alone anyone else.

I was more taken aback that she could not read a letter she helped write "because it was in cursive" - probably in the end what turned the jury off the most was the disrespectful tone "no sir! yes sir!". well.. that and the lack of anything relevant that actually came from her testimony.

I am surprised she was not better prepped for such a high profile case.
