My fiancé is filling out the affidavit of support form I-134.

We have a question in regards to #11, "if you intend to make specific contributions to the support of persons named (myself, the beneficiary) indicate the exact nature and duration of the contribution."

He intends to support me with groceries, rent etc given I will be living with him and becoming his wife. What would be the best amount and duration to list? This question has made us confused because he wants to support me for the rest of our lives or until I can get my work visa and help with expenses.

Thank you for your help!

Do not check either. It is N/A. Follow the example form> http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Form-I-134.pdf

It is N/A because it does not apply for those seeking a K-1. The I-134 form was not created specifically for those applying for a K-1. It is used by those seeking other non-immigrant visa types. The K-1 is technically a non-immigrant visa, but the purpose is for the K-1 entrant is to actually stay and adjust status after marrying, so they are not a temporary visitor in need of temporary support. If you feel uncomfortable about it, then just check 'intend' and still put 'K-1 visa process for permanent residence' on the line, minus the N/A in front of it.

Well, which one should you do?

Can I not check either, and then write "N/A, K-1 fiancee visa" ?

Yes. You do not check either one and put N/A (K-1 visa process for permanent residence) just like it shows on the example form.

Hello guys:

Sorry I am jumping into this conversation with my own question. I downloaded I-134 form from USCIS website. But the form doesn't have barcode at the end of each page, whereas sample form has barcode. Please guide me. Thanks you

Thanks.

However, everyone keeps saying to check the example forms. They DO NOT WORK. I click on them and its just a blank form with no info put into it. So...dammit

The latest version is the one you get from the USCIS site. I just checked it. There is no barcode on the one you download from there.

Thanks.

Hi all, sorry to bump an old thread. Tried to find one on this issue that was a bit more recent! Does the validity of the 'N/A' answer still apply for K1 applicants, particularly for London interview in my case?

Anyone had recent success with 'N/A' that would testify to this?

Yes, your fiance should fill out the form and sign it then send your the original. NO need to file anywhere. Names your K2 should be included on the form. Prepare copies of the form and attached to your K2 DS 160.

Check the US Embassy Manila website for a more detailed instructions.

Yes it is still valid. Question 11 is not applicable for K-1 visa cases. The reason why was already explained in this thread:

It is N/A because it does not apply for those seeking a K-1. The I-134 form was not created specifically for those applying for a K-1. It is used by those seeking other non-immigrant visa types. The K-1 is technically a non-immigrant visa, but the purpose is for the K-1 entrant is to actually stay and adjust status after marrying, so they are not a temporary visitor in need of temporary support.
