DCF in Hong Kong or Guangzhou?

Hi guys,

I am a US citizen who has lived in Hong Kong for the last 2 years. I have known my wife to be (getting married in april) for almost 4 years. My fiance is a Chinese citizen. My fiance lives and works in Shenzhen, which is a part of mainland china. I work and live in Hong Kong. Although Hong Kong is considered apart of China now, they are still very different places. I am wondering where we can file for DCF. I am a little concerned as it says we should be living in the country for 6 months, but we are currently living in two separate places. Can I do DCF in either place? And if so, which one should I choose? Guangzhou is probably more convenient for her, and it has expedited services, but I am wondering if HK offers a better chance for approval. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

EDIT: Sorry guys, it appears that HK doesnt offer DCF. But my question still stands about the DCF in Guangzhou.

You can only do DCF in china if you (usc) are a resident in china (x or z visa) for at least 6months prior to filing, so do you fit that criteria?

Thanks for the response.

I ended up calling Guangzhou and they said I cannot file for it in china.

Thank you for all the help.

ya, sorry - even though HK is a S.A.R. - we've a seperate US Embassy there, with it's own IV Unit, so crossing the streams, per se, won't work in your case, at the moment.

However - there is daily boat from Shenzhen to HK - so if you think about a calendar for filing for the visa (file in USA vs file in Guangzhou) then you'll see some waiting time, regardless..

If it makes sense to live in Shenzhen but work in HKG, then you'd qualify for DCF in Guangzhou after 6 months.

I dunno, if you file now to a lockbox address in USA, the I-130 approvals seem to be going rather fast through MSC, and if she interviews in Guangzhou, you qualify for optional electronic processing in Guangzhou - so maybe it would be actually faster (this season) to file to the lockbox address in USA rather than trying to be 'residentially qualified' to file for DCF in Guangzhou.
