Sent AOS/IV a week and a half ago - How to speed things up now?

Hi,

So we've sent out the packages a week and a half ago (according to UPS, they were delivered on Feb. 15th). All packages (AOS of petitioner/joint sponsor and IV) were sent together.

Last thursday I called the NVC to check up on my case, and was notified that they can see that the AOS/IV fees were paid, and they are waiting for us to send the packages. After letting the representative know that according to my tracking number the package was received a week ago, she told me that in that case they are probably already in review, and that I should wait at least to weeks before checking up again.

So at the moment I'm a little puzzled as to what to do next in order to speed things up. How often should I really be calling their center, and is there any other alternative to check up on my case?

More importantly, if for some reason there's an RFE, how can I know of it quickly?

Now that you've sent the paperwork in, there's really nothing you can do to speed things up. Other than calling every few days to see if there's been any update in your case, that's about it, unfortunately. I would call every other day or so, just to see how things are going, and if they've completed the case yet. But, since NVC has been a bit backed up lately (what with snowstorms and holiday weekends), it's likely that your paperwork has reached the office building and just hasn't been reviewed yet. It's just a matter of time.

As long as you gave the NVC operators your email address back when you got your case numbers, you should be notified of any checklist (RFE) via email.

Like Ooparive said, there is nothing to do but wait. you should have received case complete by now though. once that is done ( if no RFE) they send wait for available dates from your consulate and schedule you for interview. so you just basically have to start getting ready for medicals and all that.

I'm wondering too if there is anything I could do but, unless we receive an RFE, there is nothing we can do at this point.

I tried to analyse recent VJ timelines, but it's inconclusive since I can only get dates for "NVC Received" and "NVC Left", I would need "AOS sent" and "IV sent" and then "NVC left".

For those of you more up to date with the process, is 1 week total still average for reviewing AOS and IV?

I was wrong, there is a way to get the data: Saylin spreadsheet

So looking at 2013 cases with NO RFE and NO electronic processing, I get an average of 15 days (total days, NOT working days).

For 2012 cases, same criteria, I get an average of 18 days.

When I contacted NVC, I was told that the processing of the AOS could take anywhere from 15-20 business days. Please keep in mind that they tell you this to not get your hopes up and so that maybe you wont continue to call and harass them on a daily basis. I wonder whats gonna happen with the processing times in light of the information released last week about federal budget cuts.
