My wife lives in the Philippines, i live in America, recently her cr1 visa was approved:) they said all of her papers were good and they took her passport, early next month my wife and my 2 month old daughter will have a certificate of birth abroad appointment. My wife has all the documents needed for that appointment but im fairly sure she needs her passport for our daughters appointment but as i said b4 they took it. Also our daughter was already scheduled for a certificate of birth abroad appointment b4 but she was to young to have the NSO birth certificate she needed, she only had the one issued by the LCR(i believe thats the correct abbreviation. So they told her to make a new appointment and to come back when our baby is 3 months old and has received the NSO birth certificate. She was also planning to get her cfo stamp on her trip to manila for our daughter, how can she get that with no passport. So i have some questions. P.S. She lives at the bottom of the Philippines and i sent her to manila for the interview and i will send her back again for our daughters appointment. Also she has already attended the seminar and just needs to get the registering stamp in her passport.

1. How long does will it take for my wife to get her visa/passport by mail(she lives at the bottom of the Philippines)?

2.What if shes back in manila for our daughters appointment when her passport arrives at her house, will they give it to her brother that lives there?

3. How can she get her CFO stamp without her passport?(she has already attended the seminar and just needs to get the registering stamp in her passport)?

4. The 2nd my daughter turns 3 months old can she get her NSO birth certificate that day or is it going to take like a week or something?

5. Lastly, me and my wife were already married when she got pregnant with our daughter and we have all the required documentation asked for in regards to the certificate of birth abroad appointment, plus she now has been approved for her CR1 visa, will it be a problem if she goes alone to that appointment alone because i cannot leave work right now to attend said appointment with her?

THANK YOU TO ANYONE WHO HELPS:)

1. How long does will it take for my wife to get her visa/passport by mail(she lives at the bottom of the Philippines)?

After the interview its anyone's guess on how long before the passport/visa is delivered; 7-9 days seems to be an average.

2.What if shes back in manila for our daughters appointment when her passport arrives at her house, will they give it to her brother that lives there?

No. They require ID also before handing over the package.

3. How can she get her CFO stamp without her passport?(she has already attended the seminar and just needs to get the registering stamp in her passport)?

Can't get the stamp without the passport as it is a sticker that is affix in the passport. It only takes about 30 minutes for CFO to complete the process and affix the CFO sticker.

4. The 2nd my daughter turns 3 months old can she get her NSO birth certificate that day or is it going to take like a week or something?

Don't know on that, I guess its a matter of how fast NSO processes things.

I would think she should be fine going to the appointment for you daughter, as you said she has all the required documents at hand.

You can also email the embassy and they will give you an update, but the info is pretty much the same as checking online.

NEW EMAIL ADDRESS

In order to serve our visa applicants more efficiently, we have created this new e-mail address: IVMNLAppointments@state.gov , for early appointment requests and visa scheduling issues. Please note, however, that early appointment requests will be approved on a case to case basis (i.e., aging out cases, or in cases involving personal or medical emergencies), and only if visa interview slots are available.

For other immigrant and K visa concerns, please send an e-mail to IVManilaReplies@state.gov

.

To enable us to electronically sort the messages and provide better, more timely responses, you should follow the instructions below.

The subject line of your email should indicate the visa applicant’s last name, first and middle name (ex. DOE, John James), case number/USCIS receipt number, visa category and priority date.

Messages should be limited to 500 characters or less. The mail size should not be more than 15 KB.

Do not submit documentation or attachments with your message as our system is unable to receive inquiries with attachments.

Do not send your inquiry more than once as duplicate inquiries will congest our system and delay our response time.

1. How long does will it take for my wife to get her visa/passport by mail(she lives at the bottom of the Philippines)?

Personally, I would give it 10-15 working days.

2.What if shes back in manila for our daughters appointment when her passport arrives at her house, will they give it to her brother that lives there?

Before she leaves for Manila, she should write an authorization letter for her brother and leave a photocopy of her valid ID. The brother should have a valid ID too.

3. How can she get her CFO stamp without her passport?(she has already attended the seminar and just needs to get the registering stamp in her passport)?

When she receives her passport with visa, she should return to CFO to get the stamp.

4. The 2nd my daughter turns 3 months old can she get her NSO birth certificate that day or is it going to take like a week or something?

Did you apply for ADVANCE ENDORSEMENT of her NSO BC? If not, the normal processing of NSO BC takes 6 MONTHS. Check with your LCR if something can be made to speed things up.

Quoted from USEM "The child must be present a the interview. Both parents are strongly encouraged to accompany the child." As I understand its not mandatory. If you can't make it to the CRBA, make sure your wife has EVERYTHING that CRBA requires. http://manila.usembassy.gov/service/citizenship/first-time-report-of-birth-abroad7.html

Everywhere i look online has varying answers but none of them say 6 months, my wife got a copy of her birth certificate in like 13 days, i was just wondering if its the same for babies

When a child is born at a hospital, after the mother/parent fills up the BC and the attending physician signs it, the hospital staff forwards the BC to the LCR of their area/municipality/city. The LCR stamps the BC and then forwards it to the NSO. The time between the LCR forwards it to NSO and NSO recording the birth takes 6 MONTHS. That's why I said that it will normally take 6 months before you can get your child's NSO BC.

Now, is there a way to speed up the process because you don't want to wait 6 months? Yes, you should file ADVANCE ENDORSEMENT of the child's BC at the LCR. That's what I did with my marriage certificate. I got my NSO MC in 2 months instead of the usual 6 months.

Can you still apply for Advance Endorsement now? Tell your wife to speak directly with an LCR officer if they can do something to speed up the NSO BC since you need it for CRBA.

The "online" thing you're referring to is the ordering of the NSO BC, right? If a person's BC is already registered at NSO and an NSO copy is already available, it will only take a few days to get/order a copy. This is helpful if, for example, you will get a copy of your child's BC 6 months AFTER the baby was born.

If she was instructed to do so, then your wife should be able to get a copy right away, provided that NSO already recorded the child's birth.

Ask her if she filed for Advance Endorsement, if she did, then you have no worries.

The timeframe for new registration is more unpredictable than the timeframe when NSO already has the document in their archives. My birth certificate was re-endorsed to NSO because the original endoresment was blurry. It was supposed to take less than 3 months from the Local Registrars Office to NSO but took longer instead.

advice your wife to go to local register office in their place and ask for advance endorcement for your baby's BC i think the payment is 200

something, after that she will wait for 10 days working days so she can get a copy of BC in NSO,that's what we did when we get a passport of my baby,he was born dec 31, 2011 and we had his passport jan 21st.

The Endorsement for NSO Birth Certificate should be filed before the baby turns 1 month old. Failure to do so within his first month means that you have to wait longer til the Local Civil Registrar where your child is born submitted it to the national office (you can ask the LCR if they already did). I managed to get my endorsement two weeks after my baby was born, the Local Civil Registrar mailed it to the NSO Manila Office, after 3 days I asked my father to go to NSO manila. He brought the photocopy of the Endorsement together with the Original Copy of my son's Birth Certificate. My father filed for his NSO, and was asked to return after 15 working days. He managed to get me 3 NSO copies.
