Hi, i have been holding a green card, not conditional green card, for over 10 years

I would like to file I-130 for my wife and kid and china. how long does the whole process take?

the process i am talking about is from filing I-130 till my wife and kid can get visa to come to US

please help

As a LPR this is a very long wait. Wouldnt be rare to wait upwards of 2-3 years.

if you have been a LPR and good citizen (filing taxes and showing good moral character) you should consider becoming a US citizen, this would make your petition a IR case which would take more like 7-10 months.

Agree with Cesar & Cata. It currently takes about 2.5 years for an LPR to bring a spouse and underaged children to the US. There are only about 88 000 visas available per year for spouses and children of permanent residents, hence the long waiting times. You should also be aware that the wait can change at any time depending on the number of qualified applicants.

If you are eligible for US citizenship, you should definitely consider it. You can file for your family now, and once you are a citizen, you will upgrade your case from F2A to IR/CR. Thereafter your wife and child will no longer be subject to the quota.

I understand if you have a Chinese passport, my wife and others are in the same boat. I think it depends on your retirement system in China and property holdings, if you want to apply for USC or not. US will not report to China you are a US Citizen but I hear they (China) are researching their rolls to remove people not residing in the country. China as you know does not allow dual status.
