K1 Visa P3 Shortcut

I just got off the phone with a somewhat rude lady from DoS. She confirmed for me that the consulate received the package from NVC today (11-23-2012), but when I asked her if P3 has been sent out, she told me that she didn't know. When I asked her how long it typically takes for P3 to be sent out or if her system shows when P3 is sent out, she advised for my fiance to just wait for P3 in the mail and hung up shortly afterwards.

Now I was originally planning on using the shortcut listed here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/GUZ_P3_Shortcut

I know that information does change overtime. Has anybody here used the shortcut recently and did it work? I'll probably call back again on Monday and hopefully get a better answer.

DoS Hotline knows 'the rest of the story'.

NVC stops 'knowing' after the casefile has left NVC.

So, to use the P3 shortcut properly, you'll need to call DoS Hotline, no more shilly-shallying with NVC. You probably got a frustrated DoS Worker - they can't forecast anything, but can tell you current casefile status.

Also, please read up on calling -

Dodi - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/264972-shortcuts-when-checking-for-updates-from-the-nvc-and-dos/

Dodi's posted 'how to call' and further down (post #7) , I've posted what you can get, when, and from whom. Knowing the timeticks is really important, as yer listening for 'Packet 3 sent' or 'Guangzhou IV sent out the Packet 3 to the beneficiary on xx/yy/2012'

The problem with casefiles at GUZ IV, for 'K-1 visa chasers' is to be able to figure out IF GUZ IV is going to use the electronic version of the casefile found in SAFEFILE (solely) or if they wish to wait on the paperfile version of the casefile that left NVC. You won't know which GUZ IV decided to use as 'the casefile' until you do some math on the dates; if the packet 3 is sent out within 2 weeks of leaving NVC, well, the SAFEFILE Gods have kissed you...

Good Luck !

I used the shortcut last month and was fine. Our interview is December 11th.

for London IV? Really? that's impressive ;)

I wrote that P3 Shortcut for Guangzhou IV - it'd be mondo cool if'n it worked for London IV as well.

I hear bad things about London, these last 18 months.

So you're saying that if I call DoS sometime in the next week and they tell me that P3 has been sent out, GUZ IV is going the electronic route. Otherwise, it's the paper route. Either way, I can still have my fiance mail in the things needed for P3 once I've verified with DoS that P3 has been sent out, correct?

Uncle Darnell's "P3 Shortcut" worked like a charm for us this past June. If you are able to time it right, the P3 packet sent from the GUZ passes the P3 packet that your fiancée sends to the GUZ in the mail. Keeping in touch with the DoS in D.C. Is the key. It shaved a couple of weeks off our processing time.

Kudos to Uncle Darnell!

My fiance got her P3 so fast we didn't have time to use the shortcut!

Maybe the GUZ hired new or extra help to work in their notoriously sluggish mail room? Sounds like you guys lucked out!

We also used the short cut, the case # was known and we mailed out our packet before the p3 arrived, which was the same day it arrived at my fiance's house. It is the best way as our file from DHL is still in "clearance delay". She has her interview on the 13th of December. Thanks to all with the help this website provides, and cudos to you Darnell on the short cut

hmmm

sorry, just to understand 100% and i'm probably repeating... is this correct?

1) I received my NOA2 last week. I should start to call NVC now for a casefile number (to fill out OF-169)

2) After it's been sent to GUZ, keep bothering DOS to see when the P3 is sent out? Then send P3 forms.... etc.

3) At the same time, my fiancee wants to change her mailing address (so they can mail P3 to her company address instead of home address). Because of the short time-span, is this possible if i submit a request once I have the casefile number? (http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn//immigrant-visa-unit-question.html )

thanks everyone! appreciate it!

uhm, IMO, using the GUZ P3 shortcut bypasses all of the address change problems,

as

she's to include an EMS waybill with her current address

in the OF-169 submittal.

Since she's putting HER address in that EMS waybill, it trumps everything else -

the P4 packet will be sent out using the EMS waybill that she provided.

But that's just my opinion, my 2 jiao.

I see. The purpose was more for "privacy reasons". She wants to be first one to see and open it. Ya know, sometimes people are nosy and they open it up.

Hmm... on the GUZ website, for the OF-169, they don't ask for EMS label. It says P4/Interview Appt is now coming through by email???

Has something change again?

ya, smells like something has changed (p4 delivery by email)

I'll have another look.

The excitement of opening a p3 though - seriously - all forms are available online.
