I get that, but security won't even let you into the main building without seeing either an interview letter or an Infopass appointment letter.

Perhaps they can call a supervisor and there is some other way to get you where you need to go, but I am unsure. I personally would look into (1) rescheduling the interview, coupled with (2) changing your address at the same time, so that your mail goes somewhere other than your wife's home. I don't think you are going to get a prima facie within the 28 days that they will give to you either, especially around Xmas. This may head off both of those problems simultaneously.

Alternatively, if you have access to a fax machine or can otherwise receive faxes then you could call the misinformation line at 1-800-375-5283, ask to talk to a tier 2 ISO and then inform the officer that you have an appointment this week but have misplaced the letter and ask them to fax a replacement. You can get a free fax number to receive only, using eFax: http://www.efax.com/efax-free

I'm almost sure I wont be able to change my interview now unfortunately, as I know my wife has pulled her papers for her part, so with that done, Im almost certain they won't reschedule. I don't have a fax machine, but i'll have a look at that efax and see if there is anyway I can do it.

My hope also is that my wife doesnt show up at the interview too!!

dewave2 if your wife shows up at the interview you don't have to tell in front of her that you are filing Vawa you can ask to speak to the adjudicator in private and then explain you were victim of mental abuse and you are filing Vawa, and you don't want to be in the same room with her, that is it.

Hi guys, hope everyone is doing great and in the festive mood already? Quick question, has anyone recently filed for a work permit between Nov/Dec? if yes,how long did it take? I had a perception that it was taking a little over 2weeks to get it as the recent trend has been showing. I can't even get my attorney to give me my receipt notice. She says she tends to hold it until clients get the card so I can't even track it online.

@lordhelpme,how is the gathering of evidence coming along? You will be fine:).

Where is everyone else? This thread needs some revival with good news.

Hey Guys,i got this notice online:

On December 18, 2012, we transferred your I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, to your local USCIS Office for further processing. The new office has jurisdiction over your case and will send you a decision as soon as processing is complete or you will be notified if further information or action is needed. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address....

On the automated 1800 # it says on same date but said transferred to Lee submit,MO and to wait for a decision within 30days in the mail.

To all those that got interviews after VAWA approval, is this the kind of mail you got?The last time i got an interview notice, it specifically stated a notice for interview has been mailed but this one says nothing.

Sandranj, i need ur input on this one, why was case transferred the same date to MO & local office-one says has jurisdiction over your case & the other says to wait a decision in the mail within 30days?I'm really tired, want this process to be over with...tired of the merry-go-round with my case & too many transfers. Why is my case still transferring? Oh Lord, Help Me!!!

where is Dewave2? how was the AOS interview man?

I'm here. Just.

Sorry for not posting yesterday, it was a pretty crazy day! Most of which I'm probably going to need help to decipher, especially from Sandranj. For anyone not wanting to read back over posts. This recounts my experience yesterday at what should have been my Greencard. My wife and I however are separated, and I am filing an VAWA, however I haven't yet filed. From advice giving in this forum, I decided to attend the interview, in the hope they would allow me some time to file my VAWA and present a Prima Facie.

Ok. So, my interview was at 9am. At 7:30am I still hadn't found a way to get my interview letter. So at 8am when the office USCIS telephone line opened to speak to an operator, I called was on hold for half hour, after finally getting through to someone, I explained, and they offered to fax over a copy. So I headed to fed ex and got the fax. This took my up to 8:55am by the time the letter came through. I got to the USCIS office at exactly 9am. By the time I got through security and everything I was about 15 minutes late, I explained to the girl at the front desk, she explained it wasn't a problem and they were most likely running late. I nervously scanned the room 100 times to make sure my wife or none of her family were there, as that was a huge worry to me, but they weren't. At 10:30 my name was called. I noticed everyone else who had their name called, was being taken to an interview room, the lady that called me asked me to walk over to a separate part of the waiting room to talk to her, so immediately I knew something was up. She told me that they didn't know when arranging the interview that my wife had withdrawn her petition, and therefore there was no need for me to be at the interview, as no interview was required. I explained that she withdrew it the day after the interview had been set. I then explained the reason I had come to the interview was because I was about to file an I-360 VAWA, but because I hadn't filed yet, I was attending as under advice, to see if there was anything I could do with this being the case. We sort of went back and forth a couple of times saying the same things pretty much, then I mentioned something along the lines of 'Due to my I-485 being active, I was hoping to keep it active until I had filed my I-360 which I would be doing early next week. After this she said, ok come with me. So I followed her to an interview room. Along the way, she told me that there was no way to hold the I-485. She said that she would have to do one of 2 things, either deny the I-485, or sent it to Vermont. I sat in the interview room, and she said she was going to speak with her supervisor. She was gone for 5 minutes. Conveniently at this time, I could see my file was open on the desk, and it was open to the letter my wife had sent in requesting the removal of her petition. It looked like a very formal letter, that was obviously drafted by a lawyer, as her knowledge of the process was minimal. I could see it was dated December 6th. There was paperwork underneath it, but I couldn't see any of it.

Once the lady came back in, she told me that her supervisor had decided to send the I-485 to Vermont and not deny it. Now, I didn't really know what this meant. With all the advice I was given, I thought the next step was that she was going to allow me 30 days to present a Prima Facie, and that would be that. So I kinda asked her if she could explain a little more, as I thought, from advice given, that I was able to put some sort of 'hold' on the I-485 for something like 30 days, to allow me to present a Prima Facie. She told me there was no way to 'hold' the I-485, and that th only options were to deny it, or send it to Vermont. I asked a little more about what would happen when it got to Vermont, but I can;t really remember what she told me, but it wasn't anything that made it clearer.

Now let me say, after this, we kind of sidetracked into a VERY informal chat. We chatted about visiting Mexico, how we both love Paris, and how when she was in London she was pickpocketed. From here, we chatted for 15-20 minutes on various topics of conversation, from which she warmed up to me a lot, and we were chatting like friends. She talked to me a lot ranging from the English/American citizenship tests, to how with all the training she is given to profile people and made decisions, how she couldn;t believe she didn' profile the person who mugged her in London. So she was actually an amazing person, and after we chatted, I knew I could ask her a lot more about the situation and be completely open wih her. Without her being the one who talked to me, Im not sure I would feel as calm as I do currently.

So, I went back to topic with her, I asked her again, about what would happen with my I-485 now, and would Vermont deny it once they got it. She said that any office can cancel the I-485 now that the I-130 wasn't valid. She wasn'w however very clear on exactly if they would, or when. This lead me to ask about my current status. She told me, that obviously currently, I don't really have a status. she did say, that without wanting to tell me to hide in a basement until I had my Prima Facie, she did say to just be careful, as if anyone from Immigration was to question me, it would be pretty tought for me, until I got the Prima Facie. I kind of from here tried to ask once more time about putting a hold on my I-485, but again, she confirmed the only options were denying it, which she wasnt going to do, or sending it to Vermont. she said she would have to sent it today, but with holidays coming up, that it probabl wouldnt be arrived (or looked at - I can;t remember which she said) until the New Year. I asked what would happen when they received it, and she said that was up to Vermont.

We then chatted again for another 5-10 minutes informally, and then I got up to leave letting her know I didnt want to take up too much more of her time. I thanked her, we shook hands and I took her name again, and then she wished me luck, and we chatted all the way out.

So that was what happened. I'm not actually sure what this means for me now. I don't know what 'sending to Vermont' even really means, even after asking 3-4 times. Obviously my goal is still the same....Get my VAWA in as soon as possible, but I'm just wondering where this leaves me in the mean time, especially as I thought there were only going to be 2 options...Denying my I-485...or giving me a 30 day hold. This came a little out of the blue.

The only other thing worth noting is that at about 2pm yesterday I got an email notification from the USCIS stating that my I-130 had reached its decision stage, stating that a notice was mailed acknowledging withdrawal of the application. And that during this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the notice is mailed.

So thats it. Anyone that can help out straighten this up for me would be great!!

Hope everyone else is coming along well!!!

Happy Holidays all!
