Hello, we're planning to apply for DCF here in Manila.

My husband is an american citizen, his first time here he stayed for 9 months then he came back january 8, 2012 and untl now he's here so thats basically more then 6 months being here.. We are confused, we dont know how to start the process.

What documents we need to submit at the embassy? Feedbacks and replies are so much appreciated.. Thank you!

in my opinion, the first place to start is to provide proof of residency for 6 months.

in my case, i provided transcripts from the college i attended... I also submitted my certificate of employment with my income tax return.

the embassy needs something to show that the petitioner has been here for more than 6 months as a resident.

the process is VERY fast. if we had all our documents in order, we could have had our interview after only 3 months. however we wanted to make sure everything was in line.

advice: don't wait for the packets to be mailed... submit your I-130, then go directly to the embassy with the second set of docs about 1-2 weeks later... they will give you your case number then you can schedule your interview via phone or internet.

GOOD LUCK!

Hi! I already received my packet 3 and I also have already sent the DS 2001 and DS 230 Part 1. My question is, am I going to wait for them to send me a schedule for interview or I will call them myself and set my schedule? Thank you so much for the help. ^_^

Sandzzie - If you filed DCF in Manila and you've already returned your DCF forms then you need to set up your own interview. Noone will schedule it for you. They have to upload your DS form info into their systems before the system will let you schedule. Did you fax the DS forms? If so it shouldn't take them long to get you into the system (a week tops). You should have been given your MNL case number with your packet. You will need the applicants passport number including issue date and valid till date, and your priority date (should all be in the packet they sent you with the DS forms). You can schedule your interview online or over the phone; very easy process. Good luck!!

Yes you can have his parents be your co-sponsor if they make enough to qualify. Did his parents file their taxes jointly? If so it is recommended to have one fill out an I-864 and the other parent an I-864A (then of course he would fill out his own I-864). Be very careful with your husband's tax situation. You'll only have to show the most recent year's tax return (which he can justify in writing by explaining that he didn't make any money last year so he didn't have to file) but he will have to provide his income from the last three years and if they should ask for further information about why he didn't make any money those years as well he'll have some explaining to do (and the truth wouldn't be good). I would look into filing back taxes for 2010 just to be safe.

Supplemental Security Income doesn't need to be reported; it's completely non-taxable. He will just need to make a written explanation that this is the reason he hasn't filed taxes recently.

Okay so we can include that as a reason why he didnt file for any taxes ecently. but i also do hope that will not make our dcf filling complicated....

1.When I had my son, we were not married too.. we filed for his CRBA with all the proof we needed like picture or files that proves relationship before conception and also pictures together when i was pregnant. my medical records etc. its not gonna be hard as i thought before. just make sure u have all the necessary requirements thats listed on the checklist for application for child who are born when the parents are not married.

2.u need an appointment if u are planning to file for crba for ur first child and just bring the filled up i-130 as well. bring all the necessary filled up forms like G325A etc.so u dont have to go nack and forth to the embassy.

It's a valid, legal reason and it's the truth; you'll be ok with this. Maybe others can provide more information on how to prepare the written explanation (like if it needs to be notarized, what language it should contain, etc.) I don't have any experience here so I wouldn't want to mis-speak. Good luck!
