Hey guys I know most people wod be happy that they got their interview day but the day they gave me is a no go. I just asked my co worker if I can take off for November 15th and they said flat out No. I only have 3 months in this job and my co worker is going on vacation that week. How would I go about changing interview day and has anyone experienced this and how long after. My mother advised me to make a certified letter and have my husband attend the interview and see what they say maybe they can reschedule it for the following week. Help please need some advice here!!!

Call this number 1-877-804-5402 it cost $7.00 so have your cc ready. The embassy schedules the appointments so they should be able to tell you how to go about rescheduling it. Because what you don't want to do is not go. From what I have read in the DR if both are not there for the interview it is a guaranteed denial how true this is not sure but you don't want to take that chance. Best thing to do is call and ask. Best of luck to you.

Does the petitioner have to be present at the Immigrant Visa Interview?

May 14, 2012

Although it is not required, the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy highly recommends that the petitioner appear with the beneficiary for an immigrant visa interview. In order for a consular officer to approve an immigrant visa, he or she must be able to verify the legitimacy of the relationship between the petitioner and the beneficiary. The quickest and most effective way for the consular officer to do this is to have both parties at the interview to answer questions. The petitioner's presence helps provide additional information and clarity regarding the relationship. The petitioner's presence is helpful in all cases, but it is especially important in marriage and fiancé cases. It is also helpful for the biological parent and stepparent petitioner to appear together in stepchildren cases (where the biological parent did not receive a spousal visa at the Embassy).

We understand that it can be costly and time consuming for the petitioner to attend the immigrant visa interview, but it can be beneficial for your case. It is usually sufficient for the petitioner to appear only at the initial interview. If there are subsequent interviews, we normally only require the principal beneficiary to be present. If the petitioner cannot attend the interview in a marriage or fiancé case, the consular officer will attempt to make an eligibility determination based on the information and relationship evidence provided by the beneficiary. If the consular officer is unable to determine the validity of the relationship, the case may be delayed significantly and in some cases returned to the Department of Homeland Security. The presence of the petitioner at the interview is simply the fastest and most effective way to resolve any questions in a case.

This information is NOT correct I just called this morning to the 877-804-5402 number and you have to enter your cc number before it connects you to anyone, this is how I know it is $7.00 not the $8.00 they posted on the website. And if you hang up you have to pay again.

How good is your evidence of a relationship can it speak for you or should I say for itself? If not, don't chance it. Try to have it rescheduled.

Don't quit your job like you said how will you support your family. If you will get an open date interview, I'm assuming that means that you can go at anytime after the 15th if there is an issue. Then IF there is an issue you know you still have a chance. I would get some thing from your employer as well as the notarized letter they requested. And I would mail the original and not send him a copy so they can see the raised seal, since it doesn't show with a copy.

I really hope this does work out for you. I am sorry this is happening. Where do you work that they can't give you 2 emergency days off!! Or even one because you could actually fly out for the interview and come back the same day.

Usually when the beneficiary shows up without the petitioner then they will issue an open cita for BOTH of you to come at a later date. I don't think they give a specific date, but a sort of pass to schedule another day in the near future.

If I were you, just to be VERY safe with the consulate and not get a flat out denial, I would get a letter from your work, (I am not sure you can get a doctor's note since you are not sick) stating that under no circumstances your boss will allow you to leave during that timeframe, but that you can make it a little later. Make sure it's a very official letter. I think your boss owes you this much for being such a ***** :ranting: Have him go with this letter to the interview and with evidence just in case they ask questions.

AGAIN, I WISH YOU MUCH LUCK! HOPE THIS WORKS OUT!
