We received NOA2 Sept. 10, 2012, with an approval notice valid from 9/10/2012 to 01/09/2012. What does this mean? I've read that you must have submitted some paperwork to the Consulate. I still haven't received notice that the NVC has received my case. Also, my fiance has a 6 month contract as a cruiseline chef until the beginning of February and would not be able to interview prior to then. Any helpful hints? Please post! Thank you VJers! =)

Confused about the date, it may be 9/10/2012 to 01/09/2013, is it?? Normally NOA2 is being valid for a year. You have to finish your interview within the time. Anyway that is not under your control. I don't think your fiance need to be worried. From my experience I think there is almost no chance that she will has interview before Jan'13. Why she would not able to face interview because of job contact? Interview does not mean to leave the country immediately. She can come US after her contact is being fulfilled. There may a difference of a month or few days--------nothing to worry about.

Hi

This means your K1 Petition file is approved and the Petition File is valid from Sep 10 2012 to January 09 2013. In this four month, the case will be transferred to NVC and NVC will send the case to country consulate where your fiance reside. Your fiance will receive Packet 3, and after submitting documents as mentioned in Packet 3, your fiance will receive Packet 4 along with Appointment Letter for interview.

Now, you are saying your fiance has 6 month contract and he cannot submit the documents and attend interview if it is scheduled before Feb 2013.

Approval is already done from USCIS, hence, this will not be good idea to contact them because its possible that your case is already transferred to NVC.

Please wait for sometime till your fiance gets the Packet 3 and ask him to submit the Packet 3 document. After submitting the Packet 3, when he will get the interview date, ask him to reschedule the interview date and send him the Signed Letter to extend the Petition File date (I-129F) before it get expired. And, he will need to send it to consular office or you can do it from USA itself. You can see the example here "http://www.***removed***/visas/kvisa/i-129f-k1-fiance-petition-extension-request.html"...Sometimes, they do extend automatically but we should be prepare always for all things.

If you get more favorable way than above from other member, I would be happy.

Thanks

You really think it takes 4 months for the interview?

The valid dates on mine are for 4 months 8-14-12 to 12-13-12 so it's not good for a full year but I think there is a form to extend the time. I found this in the form section.

Request to Extend Approval of I-129f, sorry I don't know how to link but it's there

September is almost over, it remains 3 months of the year 2012. NVC still not give case number to the OP. NVC will take more than 1 month to complete the case (depends on how quickly the petitioner can submit all documents). After completion of the case NVC will take 2 weeks to 1 month to give interview date (depends on how quickly the get response from USE). When the petitioner will get the date the interview after 2 weeks to 1 month. If you sum up you will find it is 3 to 4 months process more.

Welcome to the forum.

Contact the NVC (at 603 334-0700) and get your Department of State casefile number. After you get your casefile number, assure that the NVC has processed and has forwarded your casefile to the interviewing embassy/consulate, contact the embassy/consulate with your concern. Refer to the DOS Nonimmigrant Visa FAQs for more information.

Good luck on your visa journey.

It can take that and more (or less), dependent on several factors, including: location (i.e., MENA, Africa), time of year, political turmoil, workload of embassy/consulate. Check out recent threads in the K-1 Progress Reports forum....
