I just got ahold of my wife's bestfriend in Antipolo City where they live. They are ok there for now. widespread power outage and no internet service. It is mountainous region just outside of Manila, very prone to massive landslides. But they are ok now.....I feel so much better, but still praying for all those that are now being evacuated from their homes.

What hell this entire situation is, and the damn government is just taking their damn time processing these visas! I don't know why I ever agreed to even leave my love and come back to the US, I should be there with her now; If something bad happens I would NEVER forgive myself! God help us all and have mercy on us!

Yes, fortunately I am here with my fiancee for our upcoming appointment. We are in Clark, 100 kilometers north. The rain is serious as it hasn't stopped in the last 24 hours, with many times where its raining harder than 3-4 inches an hour. It's hard to get any realtime news here, but its not as bad as it sounds, typically happens quite often here in the rainy season. Let's just pray the rain stops soon as this country is not set-up for rain like this.. As of now, schools and governement buildings are closed. The levy is close to going over the top in North Manila which would flood through Manila a bit.. That's all they have said. Of course people have evacuated all area's around rivers and water, but safe at schools, basketball courts and shelters.

(UPDATE) 9:40 AM Tuesday, Palace suspends work in PRIVATE offices in NCR, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal and Bulacan.

8:59 A.M. Meralco announces that it was switching off power in various areas badly hit by flooding in the National Capital Region for safety reasons.

8:57 A.M. Areas in Bataan are under water.

8:50 A.M: Landslide has been reported at the Batasan in Quezon City, with at least 4 houses affected, says Elmo San Diego of the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center.

8:44 A.M. (Announced 3 AM) Government work has been suspended in Metro Manila and nearby provinces, the Office of the President announced Tuesday.

"Upon the recommendation of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and in view of the continuing inclement weather brought about by southwest monsoon (habagat), work in government offices and classes in college level in the National Capital Region and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal are hereby suspended today, 07 August 2012," the Palace said.

TV reports now show that the heavy rains have placed many areas in the National Capital Region under water. The North Luzon Expressway-Balintawak area is already flooded, with traffic being diverted.

The Marikina river has also breached 19-meter level, prompting residents near the area to evacuate.

Heavy rains on Monday evening and La Mesa Dam's spill prompt local governments to suspend classes for Tuesday, as floods hit Quezon City, Valenzuela, and Malabon.
