I got my K1 visa approved a couple weeks ago! Hurray! Crossing over in October and getting married.

Fiance and I want to go to Florida for our honeymoon, but I'm not sure I'll be allowed to fly internally. Does anyone know anything about this? References as to where you got the info would be much appreciated! :)

Thanks everyone!

Yes, you are allowed to fly anywhere in the US. good.gif The only thing you cannot do is to fly OUT of the US.

You are free to fly anywhere within the US that you like. Your passport will have the I-94 within it if there is any question about you being here legally. Just make sure you book the tickets in your passport name.

Moving from K-1 Process to the Travel forum. Welcome to VJ. :)

From wife's experience, all you need is a valid ID. For the first couple of trips it was her passport. Then her GC. All the TSA agent did was look at the name on the ID and compare it to the name on the boarding pass. One word of warning. Make a copy of the I-94 now and keep the I-94 in a safe place as you will need it and a copy later on. TSA's job is to keep the flying public "safe" not to inforce immigration laws. As long as your destination is a US state and some territories, you will be fine until the GC arrives.

Have fun on your honeymoon,

Dave

Is this only continental USA? Or Puerto Rico also?

Not entirely continental USA, because you can go to Hawaii and Virgin Islands (but you have to be careful not to get into the British side).

Puerto Rico is a NO NO. This is what ICE says about it: http://www.ice.gov/s...avel/faq_f2.htm

2.K. Can I travel outside the United States if I have a Form I-485 adjustment of status application pending?

No, not without advance permission. If you depart the United States with a pending I-485, you have abandoned your application unless you receive permission in advance from USCIS to return to the United States. This permission is called Advance Parole.

So, until AOS is complete or there's an Advance Parole authorization, Puerto Rico is not a place to go (unless you have no desire to come back into the main land).

Puerto Rico is fine. Here is the official list:

Will travelers from U.S. territories need to present a passport to enter the United States?

U.S. Citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR's) who travel directly between parts of the United States, which includes Guam,Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), without touching at a foreign port or place, are not required to present a valid U.S. Passport or U.S. Green Card. However, it is recommended that travelers bring a government issued photo ID and copy of birth certificate.

Hawaii is a U.S. state and therefore passport documentation requirements do not apply.

Thank you Krikit.. Once again, I should stop posting as soon as I get out of bed.

The part that I quoted was not what I intended to quote.. anyway. I'm trying to find (now that I am fully awake) an article from people stranded in PR for being out of status.

Ok.. so I can't find the article, but I rant into these FAQs here on VJ http://www.visajourn...enter.html#5.13

5.12)...Is it okay for us to go to the US Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico on our honeymoon without Advance Parole? A...Maybe not a wise thing to do. Even though these islands are US territories or possessions, you may have to deal with Immigration and Customs to get back to the United States. You might have trouble getting back home if you encounter an insane USCIS (INS) inspector, plus, there are too many opportunities to "technically" leave US jurisdiction (by visiting the adjacent islands, for example). Best to take the honeymoon somewhere in the 50 States, where there is plenty to see and do.
