It has everything to do with it. Along with the different denominations of Christianity come many different beliefs. For instance Catholics believe that there are two types of sin, mortal and venial. A venial sin is considered a "minor sin" such as a lie, and will not keep you out of heaven, a mortal sin is considered to be a very serious sin, such as murder, and can keep you out of heaven and no matter how many Hail Mary's or our Father's one says, it is still up to God on judgement day to decide whether he will forgive your mortal sin.

You really need some lessons on the Christian faith if you want to try and talk about it. First of all, the old testament is the Jewish bible. It is included with the New Testament for context and history. Christians no longer "follow" it as what God commands us to do. Gods relationships to man is a series of "Covenants". The first one was with Adam and Eve. The next was with the sons of Noah. The last one was with the Son of God, Jesus, with mankind. This is the last and only applicable covenant that Christians are required to follow. All of the nonsense in the old testament about stoning gays was overturned with the New Covenant in Christ Jesus. Jesus taught us to forgive one another as He has forgiven us. We do not hate anyone including the gay people. In reality a true Christian is required to forgive EVERYONE that sins, regardless of the "severity" of the sin.

Oh, one more thing. A sin is a sin. There are no "big time" sins. Murder is the same as a lie. Both will prevent a human from gaining entry into heaven. That is why Jesus died on the cross. He took on the sins of the world so we could all be forgiven. "No man comes to the Father except by the Blood Of Christ".

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that everyone here reads decent enough English to understand what it says about Homosexuality in the Holy Bible.

The Greek word in the New Testament for homosexuality is literally "a sodomite". Jock is trying to redefine what the term "sodomite" means. (A term that has unchanged in 5000 years, even today- "sodomy") Apart from the fact the city was clearly destroyed by God because of homosexuality in the narrative of Gen 19, even the New Testament clearly states exactly the same thing in Jude 7 "Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example, in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire." Any sinner should always remember that the God who commands us to love our neighbour is the same God who will cast any and all unrepentant sinners into the "eternal fire". Here are more Bible quotes, Lev 18:22-23 "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." Lev 20:13 "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death." 1 Cor 6:9 "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals" 1 Tim 1:9-10 "realizing the fact that (civil) law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers" Rom 1:26-27 "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error."
