Traveling when k1 visa is issued to get married in another usa state

Hello guys,

I was wondering if i can travel from Washington to Hawai to get married without problems when my k1 visa is issued.

To be clear, i will leave France to go to Washington where i will be living with my future husband, then go to get married in hawai and then come to Dc after a week.

Did anyone done this before with no troubles please?

I have personally done this and there is nothing to explain. Domestic flights do not go through any customs, and a K-1, or any visa entrant, can travel freely within the US.

Hawai'i is one of the 50 States. The K1 requires that you get married in one of the 50 States. Therefore, you can marry in Hawai'i.

:thumbs: You can get married anywhere in the US. You just cannot leave the US and be able to re-enter. Since Hawaii is part of the US, you won't be leaving the US by traveling there to get married.

Hawaii is fine. However, do not stop anywhere that is not US soil to get there.

:thumbs: correct. Just make sure that you don't have any connecting flights out of Canada or Mexico, but always remain in the US when traveling. There are direct flights to Hawai'i from California, no need to fly international.

Not really, some states have a residency requirement.

They were not asking about residency requirements. They were asking about fulfilling the requirements of the K-1. Getting married anywhere in the US satisfies that requirement. You just cannot leave the US and re-enter.

I do not know all the requirements of all 50 states, but the ones I have read up on do not require residency, and Hawaii certainly does not. Since we are on the topic now, which states require residency?

I can only find one state that has a residency requirement, which is Wisconsin.

Hmm, but these 2 sites for Wisconsin say out-of-state residents can apply, but only in the county where the marriage will take place, though it could be different for each county:

I also did a little research out of curiosity, and did not find any states that did not permit non-residents to get a marriage license.
