Does Rover want to apply for a tourist visa? :jest:

 It sounds like it would be a pain is the a$$ and expensive process. You probably will need to have the dog vaccinated and then put in quarantine in the US until they clear the dog of rabies and disease.

I have brought in three dogs, and a cat into the USA from abroad (but not from the Philippines). The process is not that bad. The USA does NOT require an inport permit nor any kind of quarantine (unless Hawaii). You will probably have to get an export permit from the Philippines, which will likely involve a visit to the vet and current vaccinations.

In my experience, all that is necessary to bring the dog/cat into the USA is proof of currrent rabies vaccination. It is a little more of a process to get the animal out of the country of origin, but still not very stressful. (but if you are trying to bring the dog into Hawaii, this is a completely different ballgame, and you will need to research that thoroughly)

Start by going to a reliable vet's office and tell them you need to export the dog out of the country. They should be able to help you.

Good luck!

Hi, we will be bringing our dog from PH to USA also. Our dog is originally from California. The only airline we trust is Philippine Airline, for our 10pounds chihuahua terrier dog he's kennel will cost $300 (50lbs). Our dog needs to be vaccinated 30 days prior to leaving PH, and we need to get an exit permit of pets from the Bureau of Animal Industry (Animal health Division). Bring the certificate of vaccination to BAI at Diliman Quezon City to acquire the exit permit and that's it. The quarantine in the US won't be that bad at all.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has regulations on the importation of dogs and cats into the United States. In general, they require that dogs be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days prior to entry, except for puppies younger than 3 months and dogs originated or located for 6 months in areas considered to be free of rabies. A dog with an unexpired health certificate meets these requirements. We strongly suggest you visit the CDC web site at: http://www.cdc.gov/animalimportation/BringingAnimalToUs.html or call them at 1-800-232-4636, for more information on their regulations. There is no vaccination regulation for cats.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has certain restrictions on the importation of dogs. Collies, shepherds, and other dogs that are imported from any part of the world except Canada, Mexico, and regions of Central America and the West Indies and that are to be used in the handling of livestock must be inspected and quarantined at the port of entry for a sufficient time to determine their freedom from tapeworm.

Maybe you could have an answer to my question.

My family and I left our cat in Korea back in May (2017), and now we have a chance to bring him to the U.S.

However, must he be accompanied by a person on the flight? My sis-in-law has been taking care of him, and while she can take him to the airport, she can't accompany him. I can't afford to send my wife and toddler to get him either.

Can my sis-in-law simply check him in at the airport in Korea and then we pick him up here?
