I am currently holding green card... My dad's health is getting worse, and I need to go back to Hong Kong to take care of him. But i need to be away from US for over 5 years...

I am wondering if I can abandon green card now, then consider applying investment immigration 5 years later.

I have heard that if I abandon green card, next time I apply investment immigration, I will be rejected...

any advice?

How do you know you'll be away over 5 yrs - it seems like an odd statement?

What is 'investment' immigration? Somethign to do with business investments?

You can do that but bear in mind you have no guarantees that to bring certain results.

hold on until you meet the requirements, file for uscitizenship,

and THEN go back .

That's my advice.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

That would certainly be the easiest, and presumably why you posted in this forum- how long have you been a greencard holder, and how did you get your grencard? How quickly do you need to get back home?

Normally, abandonment/ officially handing back your greencard does not preclude you from getting another greencard/ visa.
