Hi VJ Friends,

First and foremost, thank you all (everyone of you!) for all of your support, input and experiences everyday.

We arrived at the Hartford CT, USCIS office at 1:40 pm (2 pm interview). We went through security, and were pointed in the direction of the adjustment of status interview area. There were at least 15 people in the office. We were called right on time by a lady calling my name.

We followed the lady into a small office room that was personable with three seats. Before we sat down she asked that we raise our right hands and swear that all the statements we will make are true.

We went ahead and sat down and she asked for our IDs. We handed over both of our CT driver's licenses. Then she asked for our passports. She removed my I-94 card that was fastened in my passport. She then asked how long we have been together and we stated, 5 years. She then says, I thought I noticed that you two met in the Bahamas? We then stated that what she asked was true. She went into asking us if we were long distance and that she guessed it wasn't always true that spring break flings don't always last...we all laughed.

She asked the last time I visited Canada and I stated it was over Christmas. She made a note of it and then asked if we had ever broken up in between our 5 year relationship. We stated no. Then she went over all the questions that I had already answered on the forms originally submittted...terriorism....if I am associated with any organizations...etc. Then she asked if I had ever been a prositiute...I said, absolutely not and she looked at my husband and said, good to know, right? We all then laughed.

She then said, that she thinks she has everything she needs and then asked if there was anything additional that I wanted to give her, and I said, my 401k that lists my husband as my beneficiary, our joint saving and checking accounts....and any pictures if she prefered, and she said no to the pictures (I had over 50!)

She then expressed her gratitude that we were so organized and prepared...that people are NOT normally prepared. She also stated that she appreciated that we did things the right way and mentioned it was good that I was still "in status" (I know some of you aren't-I just figured I would mention what was said)

She went over ROC procedures and that she had to do some computer checks and that we would hear within a week. I asked if I would hear via text and email once she updates the computer...she said she would anticipate I would hear something tonight or tomorrow morning. I was hoping for an approval on the spot.

She again thanked us for being so organized and to do what we did for our adjustment of status for our ROC in two years. My husband gave me all the credit once she said that...we thanked her for her time and out we went.

I was disappointed for the lack of approval on the spot...but I was hopeful I would hear tonight. My husband and I went for dinner and I kept a positive attitude. We had quite a few drinks to celebrate everything that has been going on...our green card interview being complete, our new house pending...etc.

Sure enough, at 5:15 (the same time I received my interview notice on 5/18) I received an update via text and email.

APPROVED.

Champagne was on the menu tonight...and I could not have don't it without you all. Thank you thank you thank you for all of your guidance. I will be here for the rest of the April filers until we all are "officially permanently" here with our spouses.

My tips- be overly prepared. Funny enough, she didn't ask for my long form birth certificate that was requested. Be professional. Speak when spoken to. Dress well. Be relaxed.

I will see the March/April filers removing conditions (if applicable, in March 2014!)

Thank you all again-Blessings to all!!

Andrea (chimcham) --I felt it was appropriate to give you my name, finally.
