Does having an attorney get faster uscis processing times?

Has anyone done a poll to see if those with attorneys get 5 month or sooner NOA2 than those that don't?

Not at all they just put in the papers you give them so you still do the work for them. Sometimes even get RFE's so if you can do it yourself it is cheaper and no faster results. And having to do the work yourselves you actually learn more about each other and the families. A good thing for interview time.

While an Attorney is good in some complicated issues with either the USC or beneficiary, it DOESN'T SPEED UP NOTHING as far as i have read on here on VJ and in most cases that i have read here, they even had delays due to rfe because their attorney messed things up and didn't file the paperwork correctly.

No. There is no special treatment of the paperwork for having an attorney submit them.

No. A lawyer does not speed anything they up. They simply fill out the paperwork for you. You still do all the work and provide the info. It's a waste of money unless your case is complicated in some way.

I have to agree that a lawyer does not speed things up. However, I think it is so much nicer to have them fill everything in, there is no hassle and I could just focus on the wedding. Plus our lawyer (Christopher Pogue at Hammond Law Group)answered all our questions quickly (even the stupid ones) and he was so reassuring and kind. My husband and I dated for two and a half years before we began this process so it was not like we needed to get to know one another. The lawyer wasnt cheap but definitely worth it so far.

I used an attorney, but only because I'm about 60% dyslexic and it can be very difficult for me to read legal instructions very well. I would probably try it on my own if I had to do it again unless it was a very tough embassy or there were special circumstances. But, to answer your question, no, they do not make the process any quicker.... Just for me, more secure feeling... If there is a problem, at least I have someone to be pissed off at!!! ?

Welcome to the forum.

We talked about retaining the services of an attorney before we started on our visa journey. Our case is pretty straight-forward, therefore we decided that we could do the work just fine, and use the wad o' cash that attorneys require for something more useful to us. Since this is a DIY site, you will likely find most people here decide to pass on retaining an attorney.

Just do what I did...have your fiancée figure out the visa process and have her complete all the paperwork. Then you can sign it and send it in. It's that easy.

It's all personal pereference.

I personally cannot imagine paying someone hundreds of dollars to input information into a few forms. Information about me and my husband, no less. Stuff that nobody knows better than we do. You still have to do all the legwork, all the gathering of documents and information ... so I'm not sure, exactly, how the expense is justified. But that's just me. Whatever makes people feel better or sleep a little easier in this process is up to them.
